We stayed 4 nights (Sunday-Wednesday) just before the start of their main season (late May). Maggie was the perfect host from arrival to departure. The room (room 2) was compact (opening the door to see it only just clear the bed shocked me), but as we settled in, we realised that it was perfectly adequate - TV with Freeview, DVD & USB media player (played Avi but not Mp4 if interested), tea & coffee facilities & ensuite with shower (a very powerful one). Breakfast was good & well timed (9-10am); a small selection of cereals, followed by a cooked breakfast of plum tomato, beans, fried bread, hash brown (2 I believe), egg, sausage & bacon, orange juice, tea or coffee, toast & butter, jam or marmalade.

We liked almost everything - the hotel is well thought out, with everything from snacks to shaving kits & tea to toothbrushes available at reasonable rates! We parked just opposite the B&B in an on street (free) space (which was very lucky, so we didn't move the car until we left).

Not much to dislike - I can't think of anything!

We can't wait to return! Maggie has a policy of letting couples who book online know if there are any groups staying - can't say fairer than that! Perhaps best to book by phone, so that you can check 1st.

If staying, we would recommend trying the swift hound pub for a steak (a short walk left out of the hotel, across the coach station, football club car park & down the street - you pass a McDs, Odeon & Frankie & Benny's) - thanks for the suggestion Maggie. Also the Dutton Arms is good for food (2 for £8 all day every day) - it's on the front at Waterloo Rd, with a tram stop just in front (1 stop from south pier, 2 from central) and is walk-able from both piers & the hotel. Just around the corner from the Dutton Arms is Notarianni's Ice Cream Parlour - SUPERB! Finally if you want lunch, try the Harlequin Cafe on central drive/havelock street - great salmon dinner or chunky steak pie (served by a great Liverpool lad, even if he is a blue) - it is a fair dander from the hotel (say 20-30min - 2nd left past the Swift Hound, follow the road left then right), but a shorter dander from Central Pier, straight up Chapel St, then left & across the road.

Room Tip: Room 2 is at the back, compact but perfect & on the 1st floor.
