Description: At the heart of Gilpin is a very passionate family and team, dedicated to creating lasting memories for their guests, who return time and again for celebrations and escapes. With five stars, one Michelin Star and three AA Rosettes, warmth and friendliness are balanced with extraordinary service, exquisite décor and stunning culinary experiences at these two luxury country houses spanning two estates in the beautiful Lake District. Dine in either the Michelin starred main restaurant, ‘Hrishi’, where Hrishikesh Desai combines great Lake District produce and classic methods to deliver unbelievable textures and flavours with just a twist of Asia, or in ‘Gilpin Spice’ a new informal restaurant transcending international boundaries, with an open kitchen focussing on dishes from the spice trail spanning the Indian sub-continent, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan and China. At Gilpin Hotel all of the bedrooms have lovely Lakeland views, most leading directly onto the gardens - 6 Garden Suites with their own cedarwood hot tubs, and 5 fabulous detached Spa Lodges with private ensuite spas (rainmaker showers and steam rooms inside, hydrotherapy hot tubs and saunas outside) for a very special, private experience. Just a mile away at Gilpin Lake House, just 6 suites enjoy exclusive access to 100 acres of grounds, including a stunningly beautiful private lake, boat house, pool, hot-tubs and spa.

Lunch...Food was OK but not excellent as one might be lead to expect by the hotel accolades. Service was just OK, a polish waiter was very good but there it ended. The room we eat in was cold and there was no background music so you could hear every word spoken which was a bit uncomfortable and meant you couldn’t have a proper conversation. The Hotel is in a beautiful setting and was nicely set out with a lovely lounge area. The small details which you should expect to be right from the price sadly let things down badly. I mark as average based on my expectations from a fine dining establihment and we didnt feel particularly welcome or valued.

Was lucky enough to be treated to sunday lunch at Gilpin Lodge recently and was a great experience. The food and service was great and the gardens lovely. People watching was part of the experience and I've got to say we did a fair bit of that. I'd defo go again

My friends and I had a meal at the Gilpin Lodge Hotel a couple of weeks ago.
Can not understand other good reviews. Very poor and limited choice on menu, Roast chicken for a choice, thats a joke, most people can cook that at home, choices very limited, £10 extra for a steak that is very average, appalling choice of vegetables, chips no better than frozen, why give a granita after the main course and before the sweet, again very poor choice, no fish course and no cheese board unless extra.
I eat regulary at Sharrow bay and have done so for many years, Gilpn Lodge do,s not compare with that experience in any way whatsoever. I will say in its favour it has a very nice lounge, and the glass of champagne I had was exellent, the best part of the evening, the food most defenetly was not. Give this place a wide berth.

Stayed here with my parents. The inital welcome was fine and what one would expect but then it all went a bit flat. Yes, everything you want is there, rooms are great and that staff try but there is something lacking that pulls it all together. This was seen particularly during mealtimes. Indeed, at Breakfast, we waited for over an hour for our 'full english' with the only explanation being, 'it wont be long'. When we checked out no one asked whether we had enjoyed our stay, just took our money. To be fair, I just dont think this place was our kind of thing.
