A lovely warm welcome was created by being offered tea and biscuits in the conservatory upon arrival. Very well appointed modern clean rooms with flat screen freeview tv and dvd's to loan if you need them. Really comfortable king-size bed with super duvet and good pillows. The en-suite was quite new, clean, functional and complete with quality locally made soaps and shower gel, The breakfast is really excellent. Freshly cooked to order and enough to fill anyone with a hearty appetite, They use locally sourced fresh produce where possible and offer a great choice of breakfast options. We would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for good quality and excellent value accommodation situated within easy reach of both Bowness and Windermere centres. First class.

This was our third trip to the Hawksmoor and it was the best yet. We treated ourselves to the best room and - wow, what a treat. Trevor, Philippa, Helen and Steven were so welcoming and bent over backwards to make our stay wonderful. The eggs benedict still live in my mind with pleasure !!! The breakfasts are second to none and we just can't wait to go back again.

Having this guesthouse chosen for us by Lakes and Lochs bike tours (big up to Simon and the lovely Anna), we didn't know what to expect. Boy were we surprised.
Fabulous room, enough space to store all our biking leathers, gloves, helmets etc., huge bed, gorgeous curtains, bedding, bathroom with under floor heating, (great for drying wet gear) and fab little balcony to our ground floor room.
Some of our biker group arrived very wet after the worse weather in the lakes for a while and were greeted by warm towels, and hot drinks and biscuits...
Our bikes were kept safe in the private car park that was well laid out, with very pretty plants.
We also had the extra bonus of having free use of the local spa and health club; sadly we didn’t have time for that.
The owners and the staff couldn’t do enough for us and we left very happy indeed, would definitely go back there again and would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful guesthouse.

This is the way a B&B/ guesthouse should be run! We did not even have to ring the bell, Trevor was waiting with the door open to greet us. Drinks on arrival, juice for the boys and coffee for us, along with shortbread bickies. We stayed in the Room 8 family suite - so spacious, with curtains diving children's area, which they loved! Storage was excellent. Both tall cupboards fit our medium sized bags in them, so it was nice not having to step over a bag on the ground or bump into the luggage rack. I am on a working holiday and the work space was incredible, with a large L shaped desk area. I could work at my computer and my husband had plenty of space to make coffee. Big bathroom with full size bath and lots of ledges for putting things on. iPod dock and 2 tvs and dvd players. Trevor took plenty of time choosing a range of DVDs for the kids and helping choose something for us as well! (Great movie, but sadly, the bed was far too comfy and I couldn't keep my eyes open!) Big, king size bed. When the window was open you could hear the gurgle of the stream below, very tranquil. The best smelling soaps and hand creams we are yet to encounter. Easy walk into Bowness and great location for all the Lakes' attractions. Breakfast was superb. Specials every day and the chocolate pastries were heavenly (I was really craving one this evening! They are addictive). Each time we bumped into Phillippa or Trevor, they greeted us and asked what kind of day we had. They suggested tourist locations, restaurants to eat at, places to park and supplied us with passes at the Old England spa where the boys had a great time using the pool, sauna and "fragrant shower". We have plenty of experience with B&Bs and this is the way one should be run. Phillippa and Trevor, you should run seminars for other guesthouse owners to teach them a thing or to about making people feel welcome and offering first class facilities. But as you haven't done that, yet, I am sure Hawksmoor will remain as the Lakes District's and indeed, one of England's best guesthouses. Thanks for the experience ;)

Room Tip: ROOM 8 - perfect for families. Ground floor, so my husband was thrilled to not have to lug suitcases up to an attic room! Tastefully decorated, spacious, cleverly designed, fantastic comfy bed. Big bathroom.

Thank you so much for your review of the Hawksmoor, and for all your kind words, seminars do sound exhausting however so maybe we will stick to what we know best , tell the kids that 'Homer is delighted to now be finally christened'
We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip
Cheers again
