We stayed at this lodge for my partners birthday and a cheeky get away before our up coming wedding. It was easy to find and even though we arrived early we were welcomed in. On arrival we found out that we had been upgraded to their large four poster room which was amazing! We felt like royalty and was looked after for our whole stay. Further more the breakfast was also great. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: All rooms looked l;ovely, but spend the extra few pounds on the four poster rooms

Stayed here as a couple in Jan 2013 and stayed for 2 nights. We loved the place and our room was lovely and the bed really comfortable. The staff were amazing and since I had dislocated my knee a couple of days ago they gave us the choice of rooms so I could decide which one was best for me to get around easier. I was also offered ice for my poor knee to which was very welcome. Thank you to the staff for looking after me and helping it was very much appreciated.

Our room faced the main and side roads and we were not disturbed by traffic in any way. The breakfast was superb and we would have no hesitation in returning to this lodge or recommending it.

Tip - call the lodge directly for prices as they have special offers on at various times of the year which may not be on internet supermarkets.

We stayed here for four nights and found the room we were staying in very noisy due to the road. We were also woken at 8am every morning by a screaming baby which we thought was another guest but actually seemed to be someone stood outside (we think a member of staff) with a baby. This would not have bothered us if they had not stood below our window for a few minutes while the baby screamed. Not at all relaxing or peaceful and especially not when it was every morning.

The breakfast was average but we were disappointed at the lack of choice. We have never stayed in a B&B which doesn't offer a savoury option (such as croissants or waffles) as an alternative to a fried breakfast or fruit and cereal. We have always been served our morning coffee in cafetieres when we have stayed in other B&Bs but coffee was served in a "cafe style" jug which was poured by a waitress and topped up when needed but this could mean waiting when the breakfast room was busy with guests.

The staff were different most mornings at breakfast so we didn't get chance to chat to anyone particular and the B&B didn't feel very homely. However, all members of staff were very friendly.

We have stayed in many B&Bs in Bowness and Windermere and feel that this B&B is rather overpriced for what it offers. The location is fantastic (apart from the noisy road) and we think that is the best thing about Ellerthwaite Lodge. We are not quite sure if Ellerthwaite Lodge is a B&B which is trying to be a hotel and has simply lost its way. The building itself is beautfiul but Ellerthwaite Lodge is not as good as other lower priced B&Bs that we have stayed in.

Room Tip: Try to choose a room at the back which may be quieter!

Thank you for your comments we are pleased to read that you found our staff very friendly, our location is fantastic being centrally located on a road and the building is beautiful.
For many years we have had great feedback regarding our cooked breakfasts, from your comments it seems we have become complacent and overlooked that for some guests other choices would be appreciated. We will be expanding our breakfast options in 2013.
In the whole length of your stay you did not raise any of the issues highlighted regarding noise, we have spoken to the parent of the baby and they wish to offer their unreserved apology because they did not realise that you were being disturbed. However we wish to thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Due to my family visiting Lake Windermere annually for the last 10 or so years, I have heard many wonderful stories about the place and consequently my expectations were high. As expected Windermere didn't disappoint. However the most enjoyable part of my trip was my time within the walls of Ellerthwaite Lodge. From checking in, to the meals, to the rooms, to the staff I was thoroughly pleased. The place has a lovely homely feel to it with the appropriate touch of luxury that does not impose but rather adds to the comfort and relaxed atmosphere of the surroundings. It was also the first trip that my girlfriend and I took together and it couldn't have been better. We stayed in the junior suite which I will be returning to as soon as I am back in England unless offcourse if she breaks up with me, rule is I can't come back to Ellerthaite Lodge without her.

Room Tip: Definitely the Junior Suite

A great stay. Friendly staff and great service. After intense days spent learning it was great to come here to relax. Superb breakfasts to start your day off. Couldn't have asked for a better location to the town and facilities locally. Really enjoyed the couple of stays I've had here.

We are pleased to be able to provide you with a great place to stay whilst on your training course. Being centrally based with a car park just adds the finishing touches and the breakfasts put the icing on the cake - so to speak! Come back soon Gillian

We stayed for 2 nights 3rd and 4th December. We had a four poster room which was very nice. Room was clean and the bathroom spacious. The only downside with the room was the lack of double glazing which made the room quite noisy from the outside main road. There was also a small patch of mould to the side of the window where it looked like the windows had condensated onto the curtains which were then back against the wall when open.
The hotel in all was better than expected with the comunal areas clean, tidy and inviting. Breakfast was of a good standard and served with a smile. Staff very attentitive. Would return to this hotel if we find ourselves in Windermere.
The location is excellent just a few hundred yards from the town of Winderemere and a 20 minute walk from the lake.
