We stayed at the Cragwood hotel a weekend and it was fantastic. The room had a superb lake sight and it was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the atmosphere really friendly. The lake is just in front of the window and you can follow a private path for getting there. If the weather permits the entire atmosphere is very romantic!
I will come back again, it is sure!

We have just enjoyed a delightful weekend (3 nights) with a group of Rolls-Royce and Bentley owners. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly (they seemed to enjoy working there); and the manager Philip is a "hands on" type helping carry bags or whatever was needed. As the main organiser, I had very positive feedback from all participants. Would certainly stay again.

I booked a three day break for my wife and I over the telephone. The rooms available were fully described to us and we were given our choice. Room 4 was at the back of the hotel, in the original building and had a central position. The views from the bedroom windows were breath-taking. We found the food in the restaurant to be a very high quality and presented professionally. The bar drinks were, however, slightly overpriced and the only bitter they had was bottled. After dinner coffee was served to us in front of a log-fire in the lounge which was a lovely touch.

We found the hotel to be fairly quiet which meant that the clients staying there received prompt attention from the staff. Nothing was too much for the staff from the reception, room staff and waiters/waitresses, they were all very friendly and knowledgable about the local area. We will definately return. The room was very clean and the towels changed during our short stay. The bathroom (in Room 4) was very small but it did not detract from our love of the room.

At the end of our break we felt fully relaxed and ready to face the pressures of work again.

We had forgotten just how beautiful this part of the Country is and the hotel was ideally placed to visit most of the attractions. The local tourist information centre provided us with help and advice enabling us to take some medium length walks through beautiful scenery with stunning lake views. The trees were just turning colour which was an added bonus.

If you are looking for an opportunity to recharge your batteries, this is definitely the hotel.

We have just returned from an extremely enjoyable time at the Cragwood Country House Hotel, where we gathered together to celebrate the wedding of a member of the family.

I have nothing but praise for location, hotel, surroundings, food and staff who were always curtious and helpfull, with the exception of the receptionist/manager who's behaviour I felt to be inapropriate for the occasion.

Upon arrival - in the rain myself and another lady guest, were left to lift our luggage from the car down some precarious steps to the hotel reception, whilst he kept making silly remarks and made no effort to help, other than to escort us to our rooms. He then seemed to continue through out the occassion making silly remarks and joining in. Maybe the bride and groom had requested him to do this? He even jumped into a photograph I was taking of the bride.

I also felt perhaps a notice to indicate where parking for the disabled could be sighted so it could be seen as you approached the hotel and perhaps a hand rail or two on steps out side, for the less able bodied and elderly.

Other than this I really thought the occasion and location were great.
