We can't recommend this place enough. We had a fantastic weekend. Everything was just so well organised, by a great team. Great friendly staff. Helpful, funny. They were just there for us. Made our daughters wedding all we could have wished for and more.
Well done all

We recently spent a couple of nights at the Cragwood. It was our first visit and we thought it was wonderful. Log fires, fabulous views, delightful bedroom and excellent and friendly service.
Will definitely return.

We stayed at Cragwood for 2 nights and enjoyed dinner at the hotel on both nights. We noticed that many of the local restaurants were closed in January and so decided to book dinner at the hotel. The food was absolutely phenomenal and well worth the £35 pp for 4 courses. We would expect to pay and have paid much more for similar quality. The hotel grounds and lounges are stunning with real, open fires being a very welcome sight after a long walk. I must also mention the fantastic service we received. Every member of staff we met was lovely and genuinely couldn't do enough for us.

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we cannot wait to return.

Just arrived home after 4 day stay at this lovely comfortable Country House Hotel.

Wonderful setting with views of the lake and the impressive Hills and peaks. The food is first class and the staff are extremely attentive. Cosy lounges and log fires a bonus.

We will certainly be visiting again and recommending to all our friends and family.

Thank you to all who work so hard to achieve the above.

We stayed a couple of nights at the beginning of January and loved it. Wonderful staff, lots of cosy sitting rooms downstairs, generous size bedroom, dogs allowed everywhere except the dining room. The breakfasts were generous and yummy. We also opted for the 5-course dinner one night and found it very good value. Only downside was a small bathroom with water that wasn't hot enough. But otherwise we had a wonderful two night stay and will definitely be going back.

The hotel, located between Windermere and Ambleside, is right on the Lake and has a lovely walk down to the water.

We stayed here as a family ranging from four to 67 years old. Everyone was happy....rooms were just right (not modern, but comfortable in the way you would expect from a old-school country cottage), and breakfast offered what you would expect, including kippers (but sadly no smoked salmon), and dinner was ok although the menu tries a bit too hard. Grounds were great for walking around even with a four-year-old, if a bit squelchy given the rain, and the common areas with fireplace, newspapers, sofas, etc. are from another time, in a good way. Wifi was ok but a bit patchy, and TV was free-to-air only. Service was friendly and responsive to requests although the staff - none of whom were locals - would benefit from some local knowledge in their induction training. Ambleside is a few minutes drive to the left, and Windermere a few minutes to the right. We would stay again.
