“Wonderful stay”

What a wonderful little hotel this is. A real gem. The staff were delightful and the rooms clean
and fresh. The food was very very good and nothing was too much trouble. We were so impressed we have booked again to go back in September.

My Husband and I got married at Cragwood last October, although it has taken me until now to sit down and share our experience! If you are searching for the perfect venue for your wonderful day you will find it here.
We desperately wished to have a simple outdoor ceremony, but found upon research that this is not as easy as we had hoped for. It has to be a licensed venue, it has to have a permanent structure - and so it went on. What we didn't want was to be sucked into the Corporate wedding machine. Then by a stroke of absolute fortune, we happened upon Cragwood.
The venue is simply beautiful. An old country house, they give the oldest part of the building (which faces over the gardens and Lake Windermere) over to your wedding making you feel as if you have the whole place to yourselves. The area for an indoor ceremony is beautiful, but we were gifted an absolutely stunning October day and realised our cherished dream of an outdoor ceremony, getting married in the picturesque gardens at the gazebo. Philip and Rob are simply wonderful. The most refreshing thing for us when we went up to meet them on our 'recce' was that they were far more interested in asking us what we wanted, rather than telling us what we could or couldn't have. They are brilliantly adept at being attentive without being intrusive, and nothing is too much trouble. Their attention to detail was so appreciated - little things like sending plates of sandwiches to the bride's room before the ceremony and remembering that there was a vegetarian amongst the group and so not mixing the sandwiches all together, the romantic and unexpectedly personalised presentation of the creme brulee for dessert.....and so it continued! The rooms were all fabulous - we had 13 rooms booked throughout the hotel and so a fair mix of single/double/family and of course bridal, and every guest without exception was full of praise for the staff and accommodation with many saying that they shall be returning.
Our whole weekend from start to finish was just sublime. Our wedding day itself was perfection - intimate, emotional and eclectic - and we have absolutely no doubt that Philip, Rob and all of the staff at Cragwood with their beautiful venue and stunning surroundings added so much to this. We couldn't have dreamed it better and could never thank nor recommend them highly enough!

We chose Cragwood as the perfect destination in which to enjoy a family celebration and we were not disappointed.
After a hassle free check in with the lovely Leslie, we enjoyed possibly the best ever afternoon tea outside, in the glorious sunshine, whilst enjoying the simply stunning views (10 out of 10 for location!). Windermere, framed with stunning azaleas and rhododendrons is breath taking. Louise was extremely welcoming and attentive. The Service was faultless.
It might be worth noting that the lunch menu may initially seem expensive, however, the portion sizes make it extremely good value for money and the prices at the bar represent excellent value for a quality hotel.
We stayed in room 9. A gorgeous room, one we would very happily stay in again. Immaculately clean. Well appointed, modern and extremely comfortable.
Dinner was exquisite. You can't come to this hotel and NOT have dinner - well done to ALL the staff in the kitchens, you excelled yourselves! Whilst the front of house team, Richard, Andrew and Rob were professional, informative and entertaining. The superb food and first class service just finished off a perfect day.
A Lakeland breakfast served by a cheerful, welcoming team spearheaded by Philip, the amazing GM, leaves me content, smiling and desperate to return as soon as possible! Cragwood. We love you x thank you for having us

This was a short break we went on to escape real life for a few days. The hotel was very grand and the room was stunning. The bed was comfy, the T.V. was a good size, there was free wi-fi and the bathroom was lovely. The hotel had stunning grounds to walk around and was only a short difference from the lake, The hotel offered an amazing breakfast with such a wide choice. The only downside was that it was a drive away from everything so at night time one of us had to drive and so could't enjoy a drink, however we would visit it again!

My wife and I have just returned from a one-night stay at Cragwood to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had our wedding reception and spent our wedding night here three years ago and everything was just as nice this time as it was back then. The location is heavenly, combining beautifully manicured gardens close to the hotel with the natural beauty of the woods by the lake. The food and service were truly excellent. The management and staff go out of their way to attend to your wishes, and 'go the extra mile' whenever possible. In our case, there was actually a hand-decorated 'Happy Anniversary' chocolate selection waiting for us in the lounge after we had finished our evening meal ! Very impressive. The room was also of a very high standard with wonderful views and with the windows open you can enjoy the pleasant sounds and perfumes from the garden. In the lounge there we sat, reading the newspaper, sipping champagne and admiring the Edwardian garden just like a member of the landed gentry circa 1920. Be assured that we will be returning time and time again to Cragwood for more of the Royal treatment in this little slice of heaven.
