Stayed with a voucher for a one night break. Hotel is off the main road to the lake, about a 15 min stroll. The room was clean and spacious. Throughout our stay the staff were excellent, welcoming and pleasant. Well done. The highlight of the stay was the 4 course evening dinner which was superb. It was very tasty, well presented and served impeccably by the waiting staff. Breakfast the following morning was also very good. Had a quick visit to the spa area which was an enjoyable end to our visit. Would thoroughly recommend the Hillthwaite particularly with the voucher making it great value. Finally many thanks again to the staff at the hotel, its good to be able to compliment staff in the service industry!

This place has a very warm cosy feel to the place the staff were excellent from back to front, we waited a while for the food but believe me it's well worth the wait. Great views from the rooms. Couldn't really fault the place. Nothing was a problem staff really attentive and friendly. Would stay again.

Went on a deal, fantastic value. First impression not very good, entrance is via plastic conservatory into the reception / bar area. Tea and scones were excellent. Room was excellent. 4 course meal was excellent. Staff were excellent. Views were great. Overall our stay was great value and we will return.

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Hillthwaite House Hotel again. It is about 18 months since our last stay, and we do have to say that we had a thoroughly enjoyable break yet again. Our room (room 1) was excellent, the evening meals and the breakfasts never fail to be excellent quality and the selection is superb. We had a bottle of Prosecco included in our stay this time which was thoroughly enjoyable. We had a fire alarm go off at 11.00pm to which everyone was supposed to vacate the hotel and assemble in the car park. It was for real as there was a tumble dryer fire in the laundry room which cannot be helped, these things happen. The only thing we found rather sad was the guests that complained about it and also a couple who refused to vacate their room. These incidents are never planned and to be fair it was very professionally dealt with and as quickly as it could be. We will certainly be paying the Hillthwaite House Hotel another visit at some point but would like to thank all the staff for a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: We had room 1 which is a ground floor room next to the swimming pool and it certainly fulfilled our...

Stayed a night at Hillthwaite on a DBB deal. On arrival room not ready but were given a voucher for scones from 2-5 but were asked not to order till 3 pm as restaurant was busy. We saw another member of staff who got us the scones no problem.
Once shown to the room it was nice and clean and airy and a good size tv in the room. Comfortable beds but there was only one cup and the bed side lights did not work. Reception informed but not corrected through our stay.
The swimming pool is one of the best I have been in at a hotel in Windermere. Clean warm and excellent for kids. Lovely sauna and steam room.
The evening meal was very good excellent choice and good kids menu. Very helpful friendly staff.
Breakfast was only ok. Minimum choice of cereal and fruit. No meat or cheeses to choose from. All hot food is cooked fresh when I asked for a croissant aswell as my hot food I was refused as they are only available as a breakfast option.
Overall the staff were lovely and friendly but the hotel needs to keep on top of issues in rooms and more options at breakfast would be better. Would not really stay again

Visited this hotel at least 16 years ago and when friends said they had booked it we decided to join them and I am pleased to say that the place has not deteriorated in any way at all and has been updated over the years. Had a great time, lovely room, fantastic food and very friendly and efficient staff. Will not leave it so long before returning again.
