my husband and I stayed overnight on june 27th to celebrate my birthday. we booked it through living social and were not disappointed. In fact it exceeded all our expectations.
first impressions of howbeck was very clean and welcoming . all the staff were lovely and helpful.
our room was on the ground floor and at the frontof the hotel,.this did not cause any problems what so ever.
Unknown to me my husband had booked a "romantic" room and when I walked it I was shocked. the room was small but beautifully decorated with fairy lights around the headboard ,rose petals scattered on the bed with a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine!.it was all beautiful.
the en suite was lovely and very clean.
we booked breakfast for the next morning from an extensive list . I had granola with berries and yoghurt followed by eggs benedict and my husband had the usual English breakfast.on our 1st evening we booked dinner in the restaurant where I had deep fried brie/fish pie followed new York cheese cake and 3 different ice creams. my husband had smoked haddock fishcakes/braised lamb and sticky toffee pudding.the food was devine and would not have been out of place in any 5* hotel.this little hotel oozed luxury at a very reasonable rate and we will definitely be back to enjoy their hospitality again.we would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: unfortunately we were,nt there long enough to use the spa facilities which were a good 15min walk do...

My partner and I stayed at the Howbeck overnight on 27th June. This was our first visit to The Lakes for many years and our first visit to Windermere.

The hotel was ideally situated and within a few minutes walk of the town centre. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff called Sarah. We both remarked about how pleasant and friendly she was and how she gave us an excellent first impression.

Our room was lovely, well furnished and comfortable. It was equipped with a television and all the usual items including tea/ coffee making facilities. The en suite was spacious, clean and equipped with a powerful modern shower and jacuzzi bath.

The hotel was furnished to a high standard and gave a feeling of luxury and quality. The loungr was warm and comfortable and the dining area was fresh and inviting.

Our deal included a breakfast which we ordered the night before from a menu with a list of options to cater for all tastes. The staff were all too willing to tweak things to ensure you got the breakfast that you wanted. It arrived freshly cooked and was delicious. The staff went around the various tables to ensure guests were happy and content.

Guests were also able to use the facilities at the Old England Hotel further down the road which overlooks the lake. The gym and spa there is absolutely spot on. It's definitely worth a visit and enough equipment and machines (including a small range of free weights) to put in a good work out. The lounge area is very impressive also as it overlooks the lake and you would struggle to find a better situated hotel on this part if the lake.

The Howbeck is definitely worth a visit. It's relaxing, the staff are great and do everything to ensure that you are looked after and it's good value for money.

I have a slight addiction to reviewing everything before booking and then having concerns as there are always a few bad reviews that can stay in the memory. Well I fail to see how Howbeck could get any bad reviews.
The booking process was efficient and helpful ant the arrival experience was just the same. The balance between small enough to care and but not be intrusive is a difficult one to achieve but the Howbeck achieved this all weekend. The room was lovely with all mod cons but also a unique feel. The dinner on Friday was great and breakfasts superb. All in all a very relaxing and engaging weekend and I would have no reservation in recommending/going again !

We have just returned from a one night stay at the howbeck, did not want to come home! We went to celebrate an anniversary and were made to feel really special! They had gone the extra mile and it showed! The room (deepdale) was fantastic, just right for us, with an amazing shower! The spa facilities were great too! Although i think the thing that made it was the wonderfully helpful receptionist who simply could not do enough! Cannot fault anything from our trip to the howbeck! We will be returning! Thanks very much

Stayed 1 night as a surprise trip to the lakes with a voucher deal. Easy to find, very welcoming and spacious rooms. 10 rooms but with a 5 star approach makes it a friendly environment plus chosing evening meal and breakfast in advance makes it very efficient. Highly recommended!

My husband and I have been together 11 years and with 2 children we do not get away together very much. When looking for a romantic break we saw the Howbeck and thought this would be the ideal place.... we were right. The place is beautiful and the staff can not do enough for you. The rooms were spacious and perfectly clean and breakfast was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and its perfectly set for access to all the shops/Lake Windermere. I would recommend this hotel 100%. Many thanks for a remarkable stay. Miss Holgate

Room Tip: we stayed in Meregill which was a four poster with Jacuzzi bath
