Visited Lakeland in Windermere today and decided to go and have something to eat in the cafe, noticed that the cafe was upstairs and that there was a 20 minute waiting time for a table.Went over to Customer Services and booked a table, they give you a hand held device similar to a mobile phone and it vibrates when your table is ready, we went up in the lift and were taken to a table for 2 and that accommodated my mum in a wheelchair .
The service and the food was wonderful and i could not find fault at all. I had the kipper with brown shrimps, gorgeous, came with a smoky tomato relish new potatoes also courgettes, broccoli and carrots ....very well presented, very delicious, Mum Had Pea and ham soup and chicken sandwich served with a beautiful salad and sun blush tomato relish , she is nearly 80 and eat it all.
I would 100%recommend this place for a fab lunch, food and service .......it was the business
It is also licenced, has a huge variety of cakes and sweets and lovely ambience.

Called in today for an early lunch. I had delicious venison stew but my veggie friend struggled to find anything without bread - either goats cheese salad or Thai veg curry - nothing middle of the road. Her one year old 'chose' salmon, mash & veg for only £4.95 - good value & tasty.
It's a busy place so service isn't great but very friendly.

My wife and I visited lunch time Friday 18 October 2013. As expected, the restaurant was very busy. We were told the waiting time was approximately half an hour and were given a "bleeper." We try to visit the Lakeland shop at least once every year and combine shopping with a meal in the first floor restaurant. The suggested half hour wait was no problem as there are so many interesting items to peruse in the shop. As it happened the wait was no more than 20 minutes.
On arrival at the restaurant we were told our table number and approximately where it was situated, and were left to make our way there.
We were attended to very quickly and after reading a fairly comprehensive menu we both decided on the goat's cheese salad. As expected it was very well presented, very tasty, and good value for money.
We have never been disappointed at this restaurant. Staff are exceedingly pleasant and efficient and the food is good value for not a lot of money. I would certainly recommend it.
I also like the fact that you don't have to try and attract a waiter's attention for the bill. You merely take a token with your table number on it to the till and pay there.
