Just back from a last minute 2 night break in Windermere (14th to 16th January). Looked at lots of hotels and guesthouses prior to booking as I knew it was a quiet time of year and there would be availability and offers around. In the end we went for the Ivythwaite Lodge Guesthouse as we have stopped there previously and it is is a great location halfway between Bowness and Windermere.
We were not disappointed. Very nice stay. Rooms are lovely and large with period features and fireplaces and with large bathrooms too. The Four Poster bed added that bit of luxury to the stay.
The owners are very welcoming.
A good choice of breakfast was available and all cooked fresh. Go for the full English- you won't be disappointed.
All in all a great stay at a very reasonable rate.
Would recommend to any couples wanting a quiet break and who don't want the hectic hotel scene.
No hesitation in returning.

This is my first ever review on tripadvisor, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here that it would only be a small token of our appreciation to post a review.

There was absolutely nothing to fault, everything was perfect. The rooms are tastefully decorated to a high standard, the breakfast is superb, the location is great and the owners welcoming nature made this a truly memorable stay. We would definitely be back.

My wife and I stayed for a weekend during October 2012,sleeping in a very comfortable four poster bed, in a beautifull room. The onsuite jacuzzi bath was very relaxing. The full english breakfast was excellent, being plentifull and well cooked. We will definately return to this charming
guesthouse.

This is a really good place in a good location between Bowness and Windermere.

The house is beautiful and I stayed in one of the self catering apartments which was perfect for a small family. Facilities were good and the rooms really well furnished, decorated and spotlessly clean.

The hosts were brilliant (I watched them with guests and they interacted as much or as little as was asked for) and breakfast was good.

Highly recommended!

On arrival we were disappointed that the warm wasn't warm enough. Throughout the weekend the bathroom remained chilly. There wasn't any hot water in a morning for a shower. The bed was very comfortable, the rooms are decorated and maintained to a very high standard. It's definately very good value for money and was lovely to have breakfast at 8,45am and not have to get up too early. On arrival they had bought flowers and chocolates for my arrival as arranged with my husband which was very kind of them to sort out. It's ideally located for a walk in to Windermere and Barrow where there are plently of nice places to eat at reasonable prices.

We are here to make all our guests as comfortable as posible so am genuinly sorry to hear that there was a problem with the hot water that particular morning, trip advisor however have no control over our boiler so it really would have been more benificial to have advised us of the situation as we ask of all our guests and given us the oportunity to rectify any problems. How ever we were happy it did not spoil your stay.

regards
Wendy & Mick

Our 3 night stay with Wendy and Mick was excellent and the close walking distance to Barrow or Windermere was an ideal location choice. Breakfast choices were extensive and the quality high. The rooms were a good size and the facilites well proportioned. Thanks Mick and Wendy for a great stay for a good price.
