Took cruises both to the north and to the south. Visited the Lakeside Aquarium, fed the swans, ducks and sea gulls which were as greedy as hell.
There's everything for all ages here, and everywhere I went it was very interesting.

So much to visit and see, and anyone should make the special effort to visit Hilltop, home of Beatrix Potter, take a cruise on the lake boats and site back and relax.

We take a trip every year (one year it snowed so ferries were called off) on Easter Sunday. Although it is an expensive stretch of water to cross, it is great fun! There is commentary on the way to Ambleside from Boness and there are loads of friendly would be sailors passing in little yachts and boats waving to the kids (and me) on board. Remember though, even on a warm, sunny day, it is freezing on deck, A pair of binoculars may help you see the picturesque surroundings too

For such a enourmous lake there is ver little on offer, with a 5 mile speed limit, there is no water sking, pleasure boating is a little on the slow side. No jet sking, the whole thing seems to be a huge waste of space.
There seems to be a lot of empty premises, and the places feels a bit dead, I am sure if you walk up into the hills it is great, but the lake itself is very disapointing.
