The waitress was friendly and helpful. Food delicious, plentiful and nicely presented. Portions of rice large. Starter half duck which we ordered for three would have fed four easily . I found the surroundings strange - rather bare brightly coloured walls but no curtains to soften the general effect. Would definitely go back but try take away next time. Could do with more than one music tape playing. Down a side street so will probably not get that much passing trade . They are doing a loyalty card which is free and gives discount - apply online.

We went here on the off chance. Great selection. Everything beautifully fresh and piping hot. This with gentle and efficient Thai service made it a great evening. No hesitation in returning.

Finally a Thai restaurant that's worth visiting.
You can't miss the building in Bowness its bright and catches your eye.

The food was on the expensive side however it is well worth a visit we have had a sit down meal and a takeaway and the food was top notch on both occassions.

Keep up the good work and you should do well, we will certainly spread the word :o)

We were so impressed at the Thai Brasserie's "Express" lunch, that we returned the next day to try their dinner menu. We'd have been far happier to have stopped after the lunch.

To begin with the positive, Thai Brasserie offers an "Express Lunch" menu for a resonable price - including the rice. We both had a chicken dish and were extremely pleased with the presentation and portions, the flavor and the attentive service. Everything about the lunch was delightul! Before we left, we were making plans to come back and try the Thai Brasserie's dinner menu.

The dinner experience was disasterous from beginning to end.

The Crispy Aromatic Duck and Pancakes appetizer (7.50 GBP) was repulsive. The duck (a leg quarter) was "crispy" in a way neither of us has ever seen before. The pieces were chopped and the meat was dry and as stringy as broom-straw. It was barely edible.

The first entree to arrive, another Thai [...] dish, almost defies description. It didn't even look like duck. Small bits of duck, which appeared to have been dehydrated (or mummified) were piled onto a plate - without any sauce or flavoring. The "vegetable" was some shredded cabbage pieces underneath. To be fair, we tried several pieces of this duck, and could best describe it as "duck jerky" or "duck croutons." To sum it up in one word - disgusting.

The second entree, a stir fried chicken dish, arrived a few minutes later. Fortunately, it was edible. The two of us shared this dish as our meal.

But the greatest disappointment was the total indifference of the waiter, who had been so attentive and considerate the day before. He was committed to avoiding contact when he noticed that the duck entree had gone almost untouched. This was evidenced in that, even when he brought our bill, he didn't offer a take-away box. It was clear that he understood we found the meal repulsive, and it was clear that it didn't matter to him.

It's also clear that we will never... ever... be returning to the Thai Brasserie in Windermere!
