“Valentine's Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2014

My wife and I visited the Cedar Manor Hotel for 2 nights 14 & 15 Feb 2014, and stayed in the Coach House, a completely separate unit from the main hotel. The facilities in the coach house were excellent with a great sound system and terrific bathroom, although the spa bath is better suited to one rather than 2 persons, there is an Aqua TV mounted on the wall at one end. We had breakfast in the hotel on Sat morning and delivered to the coach house on Sun morning, it was excellent on both occasions. The coach house is ideal for that romantic getaway but close enough to walk into town within a few minutes. Jonathan took time to explain all of the various amenities in the coach house and was always on hand when we went for a drink in the bar.

Room Tip: Parking spaces are at a premium within the grounds and upon leaving there were vehicles parked on th...

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay in the Coach House Suite at Cedar Manor. We are delighted that you enjoyed your romantic break. We really try to give all our guests a romantic break, especially at Valentines.
We are sorry that the car-park felt busy, we were full and had a very busy restaurant during the weekend of Valentines, with many non-residents leaving their cars, which made it tricky. We have do have 12 spaces and only 10 rooms. All the residents managed to keep their spaces, which is of prime importance to us. As you correctly say, there is plenty of parking in the lay-by directly outside the hotel too.
We look forward to welcoming you back for another romantic break in the not too distant future.
Best wishes

I booked Cedar Manor for my partners birthday which is also on valentines day, the reviews that I had read about the hotel did not disappoint, after previously having worked in the hotel industry myself for many years, I am very fussy about where to stay and much time goes into researching hotels.
From the moment we pulled up on valentines day to the moment we left, we could not fault anything
First and foremost, Caroline and Jonathan are wonderful hosts and make sure you have everything you need without being overbearing, they both are truly passionate about their hotel and rightly so, their mission is to ensure all of their guests receive a five class service, and this is what we received.
Patricia who was there for both dinners was a lovely waitress and we had a few laughs, again she was all about ensuring that you had everything you needed.
The food and service was five star all the way and the dining room in the evenings was romantically lit and candles were glowing, just perfect - we felt like we were a million miles away from the stresses and strains of everyday life
We stayed in Crinkle Crags and the room was just perfect, there was a heart on the bed made out of rose petals and some rose magnets and sweets were within the heart, attention to detail was just sublime
If like me you spend alot of time on trip advisor and you are reading this contemplating booking this hotel, honestly stop your search and book, you will not be disappointed at all
Well done Caroline and Jonathan, you should be extremely proud with the beautiful hotel you have and your ethos of ensuring all guests are truly looked after
We will return !
Thank you so much for making this celebration weekend a perfect one!

Room Tip: Crinkle Crags was a lovely warm romantic room and had a lovely view

First impression when arriving was a nice cosy hotel. Some people were having dinner, others were having drinks in the lounge. Caroline greeted us warmly, showed us to our room (which was massive) and informed us of our dinner time. Flowers, champagne and handmade chocolates were a surprise for my partner that the hotel organised for me. After a freshen up and change we found our way to the lounge where Jonathan greeted us and showed us the menu and wine list. We ordered drinks which came promptly along with some nibbles and nuts. My partner has very particular dietry requirements (after a battle with colon cancer) and it seems my requirements were not forwarded to the hotel by the booking company I used (I will book directly with Cedar Manor next time). We were very impressed that Jonathan went out of his way in organising something for my partner to eat on both nights. Dinner was deilicious but I had no room for dessert on either night.
All the staff we encountered were great, especially the waitress with the great sense of humour.
Breakfast was equally delicious and their homemade jams and marmalade were a treat.
I would thoroughly recommend Cedar Manor and we will definitely come here again.
Caroline and Jonathan are the warmest hosts I have ever encountered and they make you feel totally at home.

Room Tip: The Bowness room is massive

We arrived at Cedar Manor Hotel on the 2 January 2014 for a relaxing break before returning back to work after the Christmas period. We drove into the entrance to the hotel and straight away we were of the impression that this was a well kept hotel. The surroundings of the hotel on the small grounds were clean, tidy and welcoming. We were provided with a car parking space. We were greated by Jonathon at reception, who immediately made us feel welcome, asking how our journey had been. We were shown to our room, again clean, tidy, and what i would describe as 'crisp', within the Orrest room we were provided with our own sitting room, with a large sofa and a 32 inch television. The sitting room area is spacious enough for two people and came with a large walk in wardrobe, tea and coffee facilitates, expresso coffee included for those that enjoy a caffeine fix each morning! The room attached to the sitting room also had a television, beautiful large bed that was incredibly comfortable and very large allowing each of us to really spread out. The Bathroom came with a spa bath and a seperate large shower, perfect after long walks in the Lakes, refreshing, relaxing and just perfect. On our first evening, we thought we would take advantage of the meal facilitates offered at the hotel, we were shown to the lounge and had a pre dinner drink and nibbles before being shown to our table, which was the ultimate setting, candles flickering, soft music in the background, beautiful decor to set off the atmosphere and tables positioned well to allow an intimate space. We decided on a two course meal, purely because we had eaten lots over christmas and wanted to start the new year light as it were. We decided on the crab cakes and salmon to start, and rib eye steak for our main. Before we started our meal, we were provided with an appetiser which was just delicious and ignited the palate. I have to say the steak was the best steak i have ever tasted, my partner asked for a steak knife before we started our meal and was assured by Caroline also the owner that we wouldnt require one. Caroline was right, the steak fell off the knife when cutting into it, locally produced food goes along way. What i liked about the restaurant is every piece of cutlery was very thought through, the wine glasses in the hotel were of the shape that allows the wine to really breathe. We mentioned to Jonathan that the shape was unusual and he took time out to provide us with the background. The waitresses of the hotel were polite, helpful, cheerful and friendly and the service was speedy, no waiting for each course. This was also reflected at breakfast time, a great selection of food to start off the day before walking, eggs benedict, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on a muffin with chives, a full breakfast, toast, selections of teas/coffees, juices, cereals, all locally produced food again. Every bite was full of flavour and cooked and presented beautifully. The hotel its self was so very clean, warming, defiently a womans touch around the place, apologies Johnathan if i have got that wrong. For me what really made our stay welcoming were the owners both Caroline and Johnathon went out of their way to provide us with recommendations of places to eat, walks in the lakes to go on and even provided us with £10 in change for parking, which we duly gave back on leaving the hotel. What a great couple and a beautiful stay, we cant wait to return and whilst there are a variety of hotels, B&B'S and places to stay all very close to the local towns and villages, we wouldnt hesitate to stay here again and since our return we have told a variety of family and friends if they are to visit the lakes, Cedar Manor House is the place to stay!! Caroline, Johnathon thank you again.

We stayed at the cedar manor for the second year running for New Year's Eve. Caroline and Jonathan were very welcoming and worked hard to make sure our New Year's Eve was made memorable. The food is fantastic and rooms beautifully decorated. A must stay for anyone wanting a lovely hotel in the lakes.

Just come back from a new year break in the most idyllic hotel in the lakes or probably anywhere for that matter. Jonathan and Caroline go beyond the mile and made our stay one of the most loveliest New Years we,ve spent. They have thought of everything that a traveller would ever want or need and go that extra by ensuring all their guests are treated in a way which makes a person feel special. Caroline along with her interior designer have clearly thought of all the finishing touches that sets their hotel above most others and are continuing to make a beautiful hotel even better. Now that we have found this beautiful gem in the lakes I will certainly be visiting again for that special occasion. The food on New Years Eve was sublime and the again the attention to detail was fantastic. I would highly recommend the restaurant as it is on parr with any top London restaurants but with the added touch of be served by the owners who clearly want you to have a fantastic time.
Thank you for the most wonderful time and be assured we will be back again to celebrate again with you both in your gem of a hotel...
