This is a great base for a few nights' break if you want to expore the Lake District. You receive a warm welcome from the owners, and they work incredibly hard to ensure that your stay is perfect. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very well-appointed, right down to the thick towels and bath robes. The food in the restaurant is superb, both at breakfast and especially at dinner. There is a good wine list too. You can walk down to the lake from the hotel, or walk up the path to Orrest Head for super views. There are many attractions within a short drive of the hotel. Wray Castle (NT) is fairly newly opened and you can catch the ferry back across the lake to save time. Cedar Manor is not cheap, but it is well worth splashing out to stay here - you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Our room had a spa bath but no shower. Ask if you have a preference.

After our wedding in Northern Ireland, my husband and I wanted to relax in comfort and luxury for a few days (our 'mini-moon'!) before heading back to the south of England. We chose to go to the Lake District - a favourite spot of ours.

When we read the reviews for this place, we thought it must be too good to be true - luxury hotel at a very reasonable price! So we booked up straight away.

We were certainly not disappointed and Jonathan and Caroline made us feel very welcome. We had booked in for dinner in the restaurant on our first night and it was fantastic. The food was delicious - very well cooked and seasoned. The atmosphere was relaxed and cosy, with lots of candles and low-lighting. The decor throughout the hotel was also lovely - our room was quite compact, but they had made great use of the space. The bed was also very comfy with lots of plump cushions! The complimentary chocolates were a lovely touch. I was also pleased that there was a teapot for making tea in the room, and a fridge with fresh milk! Small touches, but they made such a difference.

They also offered free WIFI throughout the hotel, which was great as we were able to use our iPad when we were relaxing in our bedroom.

Breakfast every morning was great - lots of choice and energy-packed, giving us a great start to each day. Much needed in preparation for lots of walking in the beautiful hills of the Lake District. I would particularly recommend the american style pancakes with bacon and maple syrup - yum!

The whole stay was very enjoyable and we were just sorry to have to leave.

When we're back in the Lake District we will make sure to stay here again!

We had a fantastic stay in the coach house suite at Cedar Manor. The lovely couple that own the hotel really make the place and the personal touch did not go amiss.

The hotel is situated on the edge of Windermere a 10 minute stroll down to the lakeside and 5 minutes to the bottom of the Orrest Head trail, which is well worth it for the magnificent views across Windermere.

We stayed in the Coach House Suite for 2 nights, the reviews really are true, it is amazing! The bathroom is fantastic with the huge shower and large bath with mood lighting. Upstairs has a lovely lounge area with dining room and the built in ipod sound system throughout is a nice feature.

The breakfasts were great and it was a nice treat to go upstairs to your private dining room and have your breakfast waiting for you. The full english was excellent, so were the pancakes!

The hotel restaurant is also worth a visit, they have a good wine selection and the food is presented well and is very tasty.

We could not recommend the hotel highly enough and if you want to celebrate a special occasion the Coach House is well worth the money.

Just returned from another wonderful stay at Cedar Manor. Caroline and Jonathan are always so welcoming and friendly. The rooms we have stayed in-this time Crinkle Craggs-have always been of the highest quality. Food in the restaurant is fabulous, both at breakfast and evening meal, with lots of locally sourced produce. Thankyou once again Caroline and Jonathan for a very relaxing break. We are already planning our next visit- can't wait!

I chose Cedar Manor partly because of its excellent tripadvisor rating (which it well deserves) but also because after much research it was by far the most reasonably priced luxury hotel in the area. The whole hotel is immaculate, the decor beautifully thought out and our room was completely gorgeous. Having peeked through open doors of the other rooms they all looked just as nice! The food in the restaurant was fabulous, and again - incredibly reasonably priced! We tried a local michelin star restaurant on a different night and found it lacking in comparison. Caroline and Jonathan are warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable about the area - as it was our first time in the Lakes we needed lots of advice, and it was spot on every time. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

Set in quiet gardens a short walk from the town centre on Windermere and well located for all the Lakes visitor spots this is an excellent small family run hotel with a good restaurant. Our room was on the small side but very comfortable with all mod cons and comfortable bed too.Inclusive breakfast vexcellent Free WIFI throughout hotel- know thats sad but useful! Very comfortable lounge area and a good restaurant with quality food well prepared. Not cheap but good value. Wine list well put together and interesting with resaonable prices.

We offer rooms of varying sizes and yes, you did book one of our smaller ones. We can help you find a bigger one on your next visit. (I think you would like the Windermere room)
We hope to see you again next time you venture north to the Lake District.

Jonathan and Caroline do it all. They help you plan your day. The offer alternatives to their wonderful dining room (we we fools NOT to eat there all four nights of our stay). They really do everything to make a vacation special.
We loved the welcoming chocolates. We were delighted with our room, which overlooked the garden and had a large, modern bath. We appreciated the very low price to have a large load of hiking pants and shirts washed. And this lovely hotel is quiet.
We wished we had stayed a week. We will be back.

Room Tip: We were with another couple. They loved their room with a dressing room. We liked having the view...
