We stayed at Miller Howe on a Travelzoo deal, it was a really good deal. The room had a breathtaking view over the lake and was so comfortable. The bed has to be the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. Dinner was excellent and breakfast just the same, special mentions to Ben and Selina who were outstanding. This hotel recently had a visit from Her Majesty the Queen during her jubilee celebrations so we felt honoured to have stayed there, we shall definitely return, thank you for looking after us.

Recently visited the Miller Howe for lunch. The staff were excellent, every part of the lunch was just great and our wander around the grounds peaceful and relaxing. We have now lunched here 3 times and each time it has been lovely. The staff are attentive and helpful and we could not fault the meal in any way. Would definitely visit again and are considering becoming regulars the food has been so good.We have not stayed over here although our daughter and her husband have. They were very complimentary about the room.

We called here on a wet and windy afternoon for a snack. The public areas and toilets are exceptionally good. We shared an afternoon tea in the conservatory. Not cheap at £18, comprising four very dainty, crustless sandwiches, three lovely cakes and two scones with clotted cream and jam. The scones in particular were absolutely wonderful. Straight out of the oven, made to order. Worth every penny.

Stayed for one night 8/8/13 for hubby's 50th! Gorgeous room with balcony perfect view over Windermere, on arrival it did lack the wow factor it was dark, we got a welcoming reception and shown to a lovely room, didn't however get a welcome drink as stated & the power went off for half an hour! Large comfrey bed you didn't want to get out lovely big bath & shower , evening meal was lovely with a very romantic view over the lake watching the sun set, drinks bit expensive but hey the queen & princess Anne did lunch there the week before!! Very quiet relaxing stay would deffinately go back imagine very cosy in the winter, couldn't fault the breakfast bit slow with the toast but it was busy , we overlooked the conservatory roof wich was a bit shabby & the balcony could have done with a scrub, the rooms were spotless 9 out of 10 !!!

We came for our 30th wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. The service was attentive, friendly and discreet. The food was imaginative, beautifully cooked and flavoursome. The potions didn't appear huge but by the end of the meal we were full! Coffee was excellent. We considered what we paid to be reasonable, fair and comparable to other settings, maybe even less expensive. The location and setting is to be envied, the views across the lake to the Langdales; by far the prettiest mountain range in the Lake District; are stunning. We would definitely return to the Miller Howe and recommend to anyone and as we live only about 20 miles away I hope it will be soon!

This is a beautifully appointed restaurant. Service was impeccable and the food was delicious. Small portions but packed full of flavour. Is a little on the pricey side - approx £25 mains and starters and desserts around £15, but if its good enough for The Queen, it's good enough for me! She ate here in July 2013 :-)

My partner booked this hotel for DBB as a birthday treat , so I was unable to read the reviews prior to going .We were lucky to stay in one of the rooms with a balcony .The room was comfortable ,with lovely decor , small and compact with a stunning view of course. There were nice little touches like lovely fresh dressing gowns and binoculars !The hotel has lovely grounds for a quick stroll prior to dinner .
We ate in the restaurant in the evening and were given a table with a great view of the lake.Reading the reviews below I guess I would have expected the food to be mind blowing. To be honest I thought it was good , but lacked the WOW factor I . Service was effecient but lacked a little warmth, something I felt was evident throughout the hotel.
We enjoyed the breakfast which which would have set us up for a nice walk but unfortunately it was pouring with rain ,
Although wi-fi is free , the signal is fairly sporadic , mainly due to the location I guess.

All in all a pleasant stay but not sure we would stay again
