Just returned from 4 days stay in this lovely cosy cottage. Windermere in the snow was beautiful and to return to this wonderfully warm and comfortable cottage after venturing out into the icy cold was heaven. The cottage is exactly as described, with everything u need for a short break. Thankyou to Bob for gritting the drive to enable our 4wheel drive to cope with the snow/ice and for assisting with the frozen kitchen pipe. And thank you joanne for the advance weather warning!the birthday flowers were a lovely touch along with the milk so we could make a cuppa after our snowy slippery journey. We hope to return next year.thank you for a wonderful stay.
I echo all the positive remarks of previous guests. Can't think of a better place to return to after a cold day out. Warm as toast, plenty of hot water, the means to cook supper and a comfy bed. Usually do hotels. Not anymore. This is the bench by which all other holiday cottages should be marked. Thanks to Jo for her swift response to all enquiries.
Lovely just what we wanted and central to everything. Clean and welcoming. Would recomend a stay here. Private garden and easy acess to parking and the lake
Very good accommodation a short walk from the lake and village.
Now with decent size wine glasses and coat hooks, as per my comments last year :-)
Go careful at the bottom of the drive as it is very easy to scrape your front bumper or spoiler.
Property (and attached house) has been for sale for a while so not sure it will be available if we come back next year ;-(
The cottage was excellent clean and tidy very well presented would recommend it without any hesitation. We had a very relaxing week and thanks to Bob for his help and hospitality and local knowledge.
We enjoyed our stay in Birthwaite Cottage, on walking distance from Windermere and Bowness. A good location to see the sights around Lake Windermere.
This was one of the best presented properties we have hired for some time and exactly matched the details on the website. The owners have taken note of previous comments about the kettle, toaster and cooking utensils and replaced them all.
The slope does get quite steep at the top so it pays to follow the advice given in the arrival instructions and park just beyond the one and only house on the drive.
The owners do not advertise having WiFi because they have doubts about it's speed and reliability but we found it worked perfectly in the week we spent there even if somewhat slower than we enjoy at home. Bob gave us helpful tips (like a footpath into Bowness) but did not speak unless we initiated the discussion.
