Our third visit here was mid-December 2011 and we found the whole evening a real treat. Food is very good in quality served by friendly efficient staff. Atmosphere always very pleasing.
Prices of both main courses, drinks and wine are more than reasonable although starters ( unless you go for Garlic Bread/Pizza starters ) do seem a little high.
As previous report says managers attitiude is " different " but he is always very pleasant.
Woulod very highly recommend this restaurant. Its easily our favourite in the Lakes.

We are very fortunate to live within walking distance of this one of our favourite restaurants. To be fair to do get to visit more in the winter than the summer months due to business commitments but the welcome is always to same, warm and friendly. This vist we went with two friends to have a pre Christmas get together. The restaurant was confortably full, warm and had a good atmosphere. The food, as ever was wonderful. All choices were enjoyed. The wine was also excellent. We will be back again in the New Year.
PS We love Giovanni and find his manner quiet and polite rather than "reserved"

my partner and I ate at Giottos just after it had reopened for an early Christmas break for the owners it would seem. First of all Windermere on a Thursday night in winter in the horrendous storm weather we had isn't the liveliest of places however Giottos had a fair amount of covers in for the evening. We thought the food was very good, the portions were big in our view, certainly bigger than we have in our local Italian restaurants around where we live in the South. We chose from the Specials menu which was excellent, good quality, simple and well cooked. My favourite moment had to be watching the staff in the open kitchen preparing my partners salad, it looked to be a family affair with everyone huddled around the matriarch watching her pulling the dish together with the balsamic glaze decoration, finally satisfied with the finished dish everyone nodded approvingly and over it came! It did make me smile...Staff were attentive , some reviews have commented on the manager/owner being stand-offish, well he's 'reserved' but so what? The waiting staff were very friendly , the food was very good, and frankly when we go out for a meal together on a rare night off from it all the last thing we want is the manager fawning over us with some pointless chit-chat that doesn't make the food any better!

Pizza's were delish! We had garlic bread and calamarie to start which I really recommend. Service was also great and friendly.
