This b and b is a must if you are staying in the lake district. it is a mile and half walk from bowness and a few hundred yards from windermere town. The rooms and en suite are beautifully decorated and clean. The breakfast was fantastic and the host Judy was lovely. I can not fault this bed and breakfast one bit!!!I would highly recommend it!

What a lovely B&B, so welcoming and homely, very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Could not fault it in any way. Judy is a lovely host and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay there again.

We booked here on a whim for New Year's Eve 2008. We were made very welcome by Judy on arrival.

The B&B is small with (I think) only three rooms, and you enter right into the breakfast room which is a tad unusual, but the bedrooms are of a good size and are all modern - no faded decor or tatty bedlinen here. The bathroom was also modern with a decent power shower. Bearing in mind it was -6C outside we were glad the central heating was so effective.

Breakfast was very good and overall this is a recommendable B&B. I seem to recall Judy only accepts cash or cheques, so it might be worth checking.

It is situated right on the A591 just after the turn down to Windermere, but there was no problem with noise from the road. There is usually on-street parking right outside but there are some restrictions during peak hours.

Having never visited the Lake District before we were blown away by the stunning scenery of the area and Orrest Cottage was the perfect base for seeing the sights. A small, three bedroomed property that was a real home from home. Everywhere was nicely decorated and very clean. There was tea and coffee available in the room, a hairdrier and ensuite shower room, complete with all the toiletries you could want.
Judy, the proprieter, was very friendly and a mine of information on the local area and places of interest. The B&B is ideally situated for driving to all the places of interest and has some lovely walks on its doorstep.
We will definitely be back!

Stayed here for the weekend Firday 31st October 2008 to Sunday 2nd November 2008
This is a charming, quaint B&B and is run by Judy who is very friendly and very welcoming, thus making your stay very enjoyable and comfortable.
We stayed in room 2, which is the one with the red theme going on. This property only has 3 rooms, but that in my opinion is a good thing as it allows the ony to concentrate on their guests and avoid losing that personal touch.
All the rooms appear to be decorated lovely, our room was lovely and clean but still had the cottage feel with the period features.
the shower room was a very good size and the shower was nice and powerful.
Breakfast was lovely with a selection of fresh fruit salad, cereal, and the option of a full cooked breakfaset. I opted out of the cooked breakfast as I'mn watching my figure, but Judy was more than happy to russle me up a lovely bacon buttie both mornings. Yum Yum!
This B&B is located on the main road into Windermere so is easy to find and is only a spit away from the shops and bars in Windermere.
There is no actual parking at this B&B, however there is free on street parking directly accross the road and I managed to get a space for the weekend.
Orrest Cottage is obviously named after its excellent location to get to orrest head... This is an amazing viewpoint that looks over Lake Windermere and the rolling hills and countryside... Truely breathtaking and is a 10 minute walk to the top from this B&B.
I have added some pictures, but if there is anything else that you would like to know then just ask me.
Cheers
Paddy

My boyfriend and I stayed at Orrest Cottage for a 2 night break in Windermere. This is only a 3 bedroomed property, but it felt cosy and welcoming. On street car parking, but is free off charge.
On arrival we were greeted by Judy, and shown to our room. The room itself was of a fair size with a good size shower en suite. The room was decorated nicely, with Tea/Coffee, TV, hairdryer etc. Rooms and dining area were spotless (I'm really fussy about cleanliness) and plenty of information about the local area.
Breakfast was lovely! a good choice from fruit to many different cereals and toast and the best cooked breakfast, plenty to keep you going for the day! Judy can arrange a packed lunch for us walkers, which was only £4 per person and we had loads in a coolerbag which was a nice touch.
The location of the B&B is near train station (but I never heard a single train and our room window was fully open every night) and only a very short stroll down to the shops, bars and restaurants in Windermere, Bowness on Windermere is only a 20 min walk away.
Judy was kind enough to leave us plates, wine glassses and cork screw out one night as we had a takeaway, nothing was too much trouble for her.
This really is a fab little B&B and would recommend this to anyone of any age.
