The house is simply wonderful, located in the core of the lake district at just 10 minutes walking distance from the town of Ambleside and the Windemere this place is perfect if you're looking to relax for a week or a few days. it has a footpath behind the garden which will brings inside a little and beautiful woods and up the hills. Paul will make your staying unforgettable, he's a wonderful host, the best you probably will ever meet, very friendly and also a really nice chef (The breakfast is incredible). The SPA room, which is what we got, will spoil you like a little prince. i felt in love with Foxghyll and i will go back very soon.

Room tip: The SPA room is a real treat!!

Foxghyll is an incredible place to stay. If you want a true taste of Lakeland, in a picturesque location, then this is the place. Beautifully redecorated, in keeping with the age of the house, tranquil, yet in reasonable walking distance of Ambleside. Ample parking, stunning grounds, and generous, very clean and comfortable, ensuite rooms with views.
Paul is a wonderful host, and the breakfasts are more than generous, well cooked, with good quality produce. Fantastic!
A delight to stay here, even just to sit in the grounds on a lovely day with a glass of wine. Easy to get onto the Fells, or take an easier walk around Rydal Water. Everything you need, in this stunning House.

Room tip: Just three or four rooms, and all are delightful

Stayed for three nights. Wishes it had been longer.

Location: excellent. So quiet and I love the views. You can be up on Lougrigg Fell in 20 minutes and Ambleside is pleasant walk of about a mile along a quiet back road and then across a park ( turn right out of the entrance gateway).

House: lots of character and very spacious. I had a room at the front with great views which were a joy to wake up to.
Guests lounge next door to the dining room which has good views of the large garden.

Garden: extensive with a stream running through it. Great views.

Breakfast: superb. Very good sausage and bacon. First-rate coffee. Choice of breads and also cheese/ham. Also good range of cereals in small individual packs. Service was fast, friendly and efficient and extra toast and coffee always offered. The breakfast keep me going until the afternoon!

Service: the owner and his wife are very friendly and welcoming.

Will definitely return.

This was our second visit and we stayed in the front room with excellent views. It was super cosy and breakfast was good. You feel like the place becomes your temporary home and the dogs really made our stay! Thank you!

We spent three really good days in the Lakes based at Foxghyll. We received a warm welcome from Paul who continued to provide excellent unobtrusive hospitality. The room was very clean and comfortable with good facilities. The breakfasts were excellent and catered well for various dietary preferences and requirements. Foxghyll is well-located for walking and Ambleside can be reached easily for meals and shops. We will be keen to return to this superb Country House B&B.
