Review of The Dog & Gun Inn

The Dog & Gun Inn
Ranked #8 of 194 Restaurants in Penrith
Certificate of Excellence
Description: Welcome to The Dog and Gun Inn, a family-owned Cumbrian pub set in the beautiful village of Skelton, near Penrith. We offer real, home-made food and great locally produced drinks. Our menus are varied and change throughout the year. We prioritise local Cumbrian producers when choosing our drinks and luckily, the region has some fantastic ones, so this job is made much easier!

Visited this pub one Saturday evening. Very disappointed. The staff weren’t friendly. We were constantly rushed due to the next party who were due to sit at our table later on. Tiny portions for ridiculous prices. Certainly won’t return ☹️

Visited the Dog and Gun recently. On the whole nice food much more restaurant than pub. Two people in our party ordered Lamb the portion sizes were minuscule!! Bad value for money and over loaded with salt.

Interesting menu , definitely not standard pub grub Well presented food but all meals were too salty We had chicken , venison, duck and lamb but all very salty which spoilt an otherwise nice plate of food Wouldn't recommend unless you drink a few pints of water after.

Amazing food was really shocked. A little gem of a place. Very popular and just small so they stagger the dining times. One lone chef in the kitchen.i have to say one of the best meal I have ever had. Cater for GF brilliant.coukd not fault this place. Not cheap but well worth the money. I remember this place when it was a spit and sawdust pub many many years ago so was shocked to find such a quality restaurant here.

Food was fantastic and freshly cooked.
I had the lasagne with garlic bread and chips. All very well done.

Only thing wrong was when it filled up it became quite cramped as the seats are very close together. Wouldn't recommend if anyone in your party has claustrophobia.
