“The perfect spot for a drink or a bite to eat!”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

This truly is the epitome of country coffee shops.
Ideal for just a coffee and a cake or for something more substantial at lunchtime. There's a great choice of goods on offer and the service is excellent. They were very busy when we were there, but the standard of service did not slip. More seating is offered upstairs, so don't be put off if it looks quite busy downstairs.
The decor is tastefully done in a shabby chic style.
The food was fresh and well-presented, yet did not cost an arm and a leg.

“simply the best !”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

we were touring round cumbria and the dales and stayed at the travelodge in carlisle. not wishing to have breakfast in the inn next door we headed to penrith as it was on our way to hawes and we had never been. we were pleasantly surprised with the town and parked next door to the country coffee shop
all previous comments say it all. we had a full english and everything was superb. what a pity it is too far away to visit again as we live on the outskirts of bradford. on viewing the previous reviews i wish i had been a bit more adventurous regarding the food but it was early morning. keep up the good work !!

“What a Coffee shop should be!!!!”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

Almost missed this place as it was hidden behind a truck that thankfully moved, as we were contemplating Costa for lunch (Yes I know, teenage daughter in tow!).

My wife had spotted it in the car and we were sure glad we found it again. There's an extensive menu with freshly made items from fresh ingredients plus "home grown" cakes pastries and buns!!!

Mother in law said that it was the best soup that she'd ever had (and believe me she's had some soup!!).

But best for me was the coffee, freshly made in a cafetiere and enough for 2 cups (one is never enough!) But don't fret, you can still have double shot skinny frappe grande latte thingy, if you really want it!!!!

Even teenage daughter had to grudgingly admit that her coffee and baguette was better that StarCostaBucks and even cheaper!

The service, staff and ambiance was better than I have experienced from your typical coffee shop/tea room. It was exceptionally clean, light and airy.

It's a pity that it is in Penrith, so far from home, but I'm sure that this business model would be eminently franchise-able and I look forward to a branch opening up in sunny Wirral.

Failing that, we'll be back!!!!!

“Wonderful”
Reviewed April 4, 2014

Whenever we are in Penrith, lunch has to be taken here. The food is always really fresh, tasty well presented and excellent value. Plenty of choice on the menu and a special board. The staff are friendly, the café itself is spotless - as are the toilets. My only complaint is that it isn't closer to home!

“Penrith's Hidden Gem”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

Close to the newly developed shopping area. I was impressed with the quality of food available. The Menu offered all the favorites you would expect to find but the Specials were exactly that, tempting, tasty and with a bit of a twist - not your run of the mill choices. All 100% homemade, including the bread, a lot of effort has clearly gone into the preparation and appearance. The cafe was busy even mid afternoon and the service was swift and friendly. Excellent cup of coffee too! Fresh, relaxed and slightly vintage feel to the cafe, a lovely treat which I look forward to repeating. Outdoor seating during the summer too..
