“A very cool awesome fantastic Hostel”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

The beds!
The Rooms!
The Bike space!
The kitchen!
The service!

All of these and many more are what makes a hostel be a hostel. And a really good one at that! It is in a very convenient location, whether you want to eat drink or be merry, it's in penrith and there is something for everyone. Also located to a nearby Morrissons which is a stone throw away should you need anything.

The service here is fantastic, very chirpy and happy to help bodies around the place so if you need anything just ask! Or just go and have a general crack the Owners are very accommodating.:) Which is always a good thing.

If you happen to be a biker, there is a convenient spot in the cellar to store your cycles safely. So there is no need to worry about that.

A lovely kitchen with tea coffee and some refreshments is also available and it's very cosy.

One thing for sure is that if your staying here, be prepared to feel at home. :)

I see that Wayfarer's has received many very positive reviews already, and after visiting I can see why.

Like many otehr reviewers, I and two friends stayed here whilst riding the C2C and found Wayfarers to be basically faultless- spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well-designed, and excellent showers (great after cycling for a day). We felt Wayfarers was the best overnight stop we made en route.

The hostel is set up for cyclists, with excellent bike storage and repair/ maintenance facilities in the (unfortunate) event your bike needs some TLC. Just make sure you don't bang your head on the low door like I did!

The kitchen is very good but we ended up going for the £4 continental breakfast option which we were very happy with.

To summarise- the best hostel I've ever had the pleasure of staying at!

The service was friendly and helpful, helping us with a choice for somewhere to eat for dinner and directions. We stayed in the twin room and it was ideal, clean, cosy and fresh. The shower was powerful and hot. The kitchen and communal area is brand new with loads of high quality appliances and everything you'd need to cook and eat a meal. We were doing the c2c cycle ride and the hostel is set up perfectly for this cause. with a lovely room for the bikes with every tool you could possibly need for some fettleing of the bike after a long ride. They even sold some commonky needed spare parts, brake pads, cables etc which i thought was a great idea. Would highly recommend and will definately stay again.

Room Tip: The twin room is excellent. ensuite and everything.

We stayed here when cycling the C2C route and it was outstanding. It's well located in central Penrith with plenty of places to eat nearby, or both Morrison's and Booths supermarkets within a 5 minute walk if you want to self-cater. The hostel is spotlessly clean and furnished and equipped to a high standard. There are excellent self-catering facilities and very welcome free tea and coffee available for weary travellers arriving from the trails. The room we stayed in was excellent, en-suite and with very comfortable beds. For fellow cyclists, we can tell you the cycle storage is safe and excellent, and they also offer handy spares for sale, tools and what not for any essential running repairs. The staff were friendly and welcoming and all-in-all this was a first rate place to stay. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

We stayed at this hostel for 4 nights. We confidently and highly recommend this place if you visit Cumbria and the Lake District area. It has the best connection to the Lakes, Carlisle and nearby cities and villages. The hostel is big and clean, with ensuite rooms, private lockers, large garage for the bikes, super furnished kitchen and relaxing living room. The staff is really friendly and helpful. We were provided with so much detailed information about the the history, cycling routes and transportation in and out of the area. Do not hesitate to make a booking in there because the prices are very cheap and the quality of the service provided is really high.
In short, thanks so much Simon, Sarah and Mark! :-)

Stayed here recently as it was very handy for walking in the Eastern Fells, great value and very good attention to detail. The wet room was especially valuable this particular weekend. Location is very handy for all the restuarants and pubs in Penrith

Room Tip: Dont share a room with a snoorer

This hostel seems to tick all the boxes. It is recently refurbished, bright and spotlessly clean. The welcome is friendly and the price is very reasonable. I was in a good sized room with three double bunks and en suite shower and toilet. The bed was comfortable with good quality bedding. Towels were available to hire.
The kitchen is well equipped and breakfast is an optional extra comprising cereal, toast, fruit juice, fruit and yoghurt on a self-service basis.
I walked in from the railway station which is nearby, as is the bus station. They appear very well set up for cyclists.
