“Worth every penny”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2014

Wasn’t sure what to expect at first as we have never been to a gypsy caravan before but it was excellent and we enjoyed every second of it! The caravan was situated in a lovely secluded field in a very beautiful and peaceful area. There is plenty to do and we spent our weekend taking long walks and kayaking. The gypsy caravan had everything you needed for a perfect weekend away I would highly recommend it to anyone and would definitely do it again myself. Barney was the perfect host and couldn’t of been more helpful. The caravan is worth every penny and is a unique and wonderful idea.

“A fabulous adventure with home comforts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2013

We surprised our family with this trip & it was unforgettable.
We were swooped up from a pub & gently drove the horses for a couple of hours to our destination for the night. Along the way we stopped to collect some firewood.
We arrived at camp, got set up, cooked dinner on the fire, opened a bottle of wine, & looked up at the stars. Voila, a perfect night.

“A wonderful adventure!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

Myself and my boyfriend and his ten year old daughter stayed on the caravan for two nights at the Watermill at Little Salkeld and the trip far exceeded our expectations on every level. We met Barny and Bob the horse on the first day and had a peaceful ride to Little Salkeld with a stop at a pub and a village green on the way. Barny got us set up in our own field, showed us the ropes and left us to it. We cooked our meals on the open fire, explored the area, swam in the freezing river & enjoyed the treats offered by the Watermill tea room. The atmosphere at the Watermill was great - the perfect amount of community feel and inclusion. Bob was in the next field over so we could visit him during the day, and we also had a goat and plenty if chickens for company in the field. The last day Barny came to the site and we made our way back to Edenhall via a Druids circle. Barny was the perfect host - fantastic with my boyfriends daughter and had the balance of being on hand with the practicalities of staying in a caravan but leaving us to it spot on. On face value it doesn't seem like the cheapest trip, but when I consider the value of the adventure, and the fact that we had all the entertainment we needed on the caravan doorstep it really was worth every penny.

“Fabulous Family Break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013

Just back from a great 2 night stay with our 4 and 6 year olds, and they've not stopped talking about the lovely Bob and Charlie since. Wonderful location for camp at the Watermill and great fun collecting firewood, cooking over open fire and 'fishing' in the stream. Even when rained was treat to curl up in the cosy wagon. Barney was fabulous host who's thought of everything and showed real passion in his work. Can't recommend it enough. Thanks Barney, Bob and Charlie. One note of caution, with holidays this good it is very hard going back to work!

“What an experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

What a wonderful short break this was. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. From the moment we met Barney and the two horses, Charlie and Bob, the whole pace of life slowed down. Barney was an excellent host and nothing was too much trouble for him. He drove the caravan to our campsite, a field near the watermill at Little Salkeld, at a lovely leisurely pace. We are experienced campers so were prepared to go right back to basics. Our two young sons loved cooking on the open wood fire and going to collect wood. They also enjoyed playing in the river that is adjacent to the camp site. The caravan was a wonderful experience for all of us. It comfortable, and cosy, for a family of four with adequate room for our clothes etc.
Having the two horses in the field was no bother at all, once you are used to them rubbing up against the caravan at night! Both Bob and Charlie were lovely. They loved the attention they had from all of us and were very patient when the boys had a ride on them.
As we were leaving Barney asked us if there was anything we didn't like about the experience, the only reply we could give was that we were sorry to leave. We can't recommend this enough and we would love to do it again.
Thank you Barney for sharing this experience with us.
