“The problem with being popular and possibly the highest fuel cost.”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

I have been stopping at Westmorland Services for some time now a it was a refreshing change from the "all the sames" on the rest of the motorway network. Until yesterday I would have given a 4* rating or possibly higher, but being popular brings its own problems and especially a drop in quality. That is a shame, because quality can go hand in hand with quantity, but the management seem to have been caught by surprise by the Christmas rush. Hopefully things will improve when the queues die down, but as the management hope to open a new service area soon, they have many lessons to learn.
Otherwise, make sure that you fill up your fuel elsewhere. This service area had possibly the highest fuel charges in the Country at 149.9p for diesel. There is no excuse for such blatant extortion. You have been warned.

“Not the average service station, more of a farm shop/ deli”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

What a fantastic change to have a family ran 'service station ' on M6. We stopped northbound although it is also on the southbound side around Tebay, Cumbria. Checkout the bits of history painted on the walls when you're in the cafe. Staff are helpful and qyick. Area is clean. Lovely farm shop and delicatessen.

“Excellent as always and family owned for a change”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

We love stopping at Tebay (Westmorland Farm Shops) and had breakfast here on our way home. It was excellent as usual, including the food, the atmosphere, the view from the café (stunning landscape) and the lovely shop. Its (local) family owned which makes a nice change. Very friendly helpful staff. Can recommend the breakfast bap :-)

“Very Good as far as service stations go.”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

I am not a fan of service stations but the southbound and northbound offer good food in pleasant surroundings (especially northbound with a view of the Lakes over a duck pond). Food and service is excellent and the farm food shops offer some delights to take home. Well worth the visit.

“The best place to stop on the M6”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the nicest place to stop for a break on the M6. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food excellent and well priced - either take away or sit down, the coffee is excellent and hot. There are plenty of things to amuse the children for a while, from feeding the ducks to a play area. if you are on your way home, or camping/holiday home, there is an excellent farm shop on site to pick up the staples and some treats as well. The whole set up is very well run and spotlessly clean.
