“Lovely, quaint Victorian Guesthouse with a fantastic breakfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2009

We stayed at The Brookland's Guesthouse on the last night of our honeymoon on our way back down from Scotland to Cheltenham. We were greeted very warmly by Leon, the owner who gave us a parking permit, took our bags up to our room and offered his advice for local eateries.

We were tired so we spent the afternoon in the room relaxing, using the internet (wifi is complimentary and fairly reliable) and watching a bit of TV on the very impressive plasma screen. We stayed in the deluxe room which had a huge original Victorian bedstead, a nice bathroom with complimentary White Company toiletries and lots of tea, coffee, fruit and water.

We went out that evening into Penrith which unfortunately we were less impressed with. Rowdy teenagers seemed to roam the streets which were a little intimidating. We did however find a good indian restaurant which was recommended in the info pack at the guesthouse. The food was excellent and the staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Breakfast the following morning was very impressive. The menu was varied with lots of choice, the portions we large and the food was really beautifully cooked food. The fruit to start with was really fresh and very tasty.

All in all a very enjoyable stay.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Scotland, a lovely hotel, host was very helpful and friendly, room was fantastic, lots of lovely touches, fruit in the room, lovely toiletries, there was a small fridge in the room with water in it, breakfast the best ever, with fresh fruits including strawberries and blackberries. what more can we say apart from shame it was only for one night! looking forward to a return visit sometime.

We arrived early to the guesthouse and were greeted by the owner. Our rooms were amazing - clean, full of useful items and spacious - both our rooms had flat screen tvs and designer toiletries.

The owner was keen to direct us around the local town and recomended some very nice resteraunts - we took him up on one of his choices and were very happy with the meal.

Breakfast was huge!! We liked all parts of the breakfast and left very full.

This guest house was amazingly clean and showed high standards throughout, we could park immediately outside the house and i would recommend this place to anyone in Penrith.

this was our first stop on the C2C and we could not have asked for a more comfortable and friendly place to rest our weary muscles. The rooms are of an exceptionally high standard, and the food was first rate for people preparing for a hard days cycling/walking etc.
Would recommend to anyone, in fact we are staying again in September for another C2C adventure.

We stayed 4 nights in the four poster room and it was fabulous. So many little touches all added up to a fantastic stay. Complimentary bowl of fruit, Our own little fridge with bottles of water supplied every day, Lovely cookies left each morning to have with our coffee, bath robes supplied as well as luxury toiletries, the list goes on.
The Breakfast was amazing! The selection of fresh fruit was vast and plentiful. The full english was enormous and the cafetierre coffee was a delight.
Any requests for advice were dealt with easily and quickly, nothing was too much trouble.
The sign outside says 5 star and inside it is five star all the way.
Thank you Leon & debbie for a wonderful stay!
Best wishes from Kevin & Denise from newcastle.

my husband and i stayed at Brooklands for two nights as a base for the lakes and surrounding areas. we looked on trip advisor for advice and read the excellent reviews and also went ontheir website. The guest house is EXACTLY like it is on the website. the rooms were gorgeous we stayed in room 5 at the front of the house with the four poster bed. the room was beautiful the decor was fantastic, it felt like we were staying in an Stately home in the middle of the country side. the detail was just brilliant. the bed was made up well with lots of comfy pillows, and everything matched well. The room has everything you needed and more;
*enought tea (including flavoured), coffee and hot choc to last you a week
*a bowl of fresh fruit
*clean cups, glasses and even wine glasses
*clean soft towels and bath robes
*a decent hair dryer with clips (essential for all girls )
*mini fridge was always stocked with bottles water
*toiletries form the white compnay
The room was spotless we couldn't find a single bit of dust anywhere it felt like we were the first people to stay in that room from new.
The breakfast was fab full english breakfast was cooked perfectly and generous, fresh coffee with hot milk.

This place is definately vaule for money and and pleasurable stay will be returning there again. Both Leon and Debbie were very helpful and friendly.
