A beautiful ruin steeped in history, the home for a time of King Richard 111, yet it is left open for anyone to roam around in.
It is not secure in anyway, it is in a park.
We stayed only a short time as there were children using it as a playground, disgusting words carved into some of the stones of the castle walls, beer cans here and there and older boys kicking a football as hard as they could at the castle wall using it as a goalpost... Come on English Heritage this is crazy, what is left of this amazing building should be cornered off and a charge should be made, that way only the people with a genuine interest in history, Castles etc will walk around it respectfully.
The future of this Castle worry's me, and should worry English Heritage too.
