“Very comfortable”
Reviewed October 5, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

This is a large detached property in a very pretty village with good transport links for visiting the beautiful Lake District. The views from both the front and back windows are stunning. It is very spacious and comfortable - especially the beds! The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday and having two bathrooms makes it ideal for two couples. We hated to leave and look forward to a return visit.

“Ideal base to explore the Lakes and Borders”
Reviewed August 26, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Large house in a lovely quiet village. You get the best of rural and urban living as Penrith is only five miles away.

House was clean and comfortable. There was coffee, tea, sugar, milk and wine (!!) on arrival - very welcome. There was masses of room for us (two adults, one teenager and one eight year old) and having the two sitting rooms and a third TV in the HUGE master bedroom proved very useful.

The beds were the best we have ever used - anywhere!! The kitchen and downstairs furniture were perhaps a little dated and the saucepans were on the small side if catering for the six people the house can sleep (my parents joined us for one week and we struggled a bit with the cooking). But generally the house was very well equipped, including safety gates for families with small children. Accessible house for anyone with mobility problems although you would have to use the back door to avoid front steps. Owners Craig and Suzanne were very helpful and welcoming.

Penrith is only five miles away with plenty of amenities if you like that sort of thing and large Morrisons (including fuel) and Sainsburys. Very friendly post office/stores in the village and the pub has an excellent reputation (although we never got round to visiting!!). The house is within one and a half hours of the Southern/South-Western Lakes, Dumfries and the Borders and Hadrian's Wall so offers masses of choice for activities whatever your tastes/interests. One word of warning - the cost of parking within the National Park is extortionate. No matter where you are it will cost between £6 and £7 per day, even in some of the lay-bys! One or two town centre sites offer £3 for the day but it can get very expensive over the course of a two-week holiday...

“Excellent home and location for a family holiday”
Reviewed June 2, 2012 for a stay in May 2012

Spacious home in charming small village. Two lounges with TVs catered for needs of both adults and children. Close proximity to the Lakes and the Eden Valley ideal for for either a relaxing or 'activity filled' day out. Boot and Shoe pub with child friendly atmosphere ideal for both meals and relaxing drink. Service both in pub and Post Office and in Greystoke in general very friendly.
