“Fine dining in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

An excellent meal, beautifully served and presented in a lovely Georgian house in the peaceful Eden Valley. The menu is relatively small but is delicious and has some unusual touches and uses local produce. The bread alone is worth a visit!

“One of the best meals we've ever had”
Reviewed November 7, 2011

We enjoyed dinner, bed and breakfast at this hotel, and the meal was absolutely fantastic. Such a surprise in a small village, well off the beaten track. The food choices were witty, confident and very good indeed. Locally sourced produce, unusual food combinations....this chef really knows his stuff. Now on our list of greatest places to eat.

The setting was perfect, the service was excellent, the food was amazing, the tast of the food the presentation, the flavours we fantastic. The Chef is very creative, all local food cooked to perfection. It was our first visit I am sure it will not be our last.

“A Special Treat for a Special Birthday”
Reviewed March 22, 2011

We treated some friends to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Recent reviews are good although we had had a disappointment here some years ago, we did not regret our decision. It was out of the ordinary, with lovely canapes before the meal which seemed as much about texture as taste , the starters and main courses were all lovely and whilst we certainly ate sufficient (and more!) There was no outfacing with huge servings of anything.
All food lovers, we left 4 clean plates ! 2 opted for dessert and 1 for cheese and biscuits,I abstained! But both sweets and the cheese plate got the seal of approval too. The only criticism from me is that there is a £4 a head charge for coffee and chocolate craque....I eat the chocolate but do not like a coffee so seems a bit steep.
Quite quiet for our visit, a horrid wet Friday night in March . Would certainly consider again for another special occasion, and recommend to anyone seeking a special meal more to remember than your usual hotel dining room .
