The history is interesting but there is not too much left to see. You need to use your imagination.

Perilously close to the roaring M6, between the hills and mountains of the Lake District and the Penines, with a small group of houses built right up against it, climb the bank at Mayburgh Henge and you will be unprepared for the sight that meets your eyes on reaching the top. The massive central enclosure is home now to just one enormous standing stone, but this was originally one of four such stones in the centre, and four more at the entrance. The mighty banks, now gently covered in grass with huge trees growing out of them, are constructed from 5 million cobbles brought from the nearby river three to four thousand years ago. It is a peaceful place, despite the proximity of the motorway, and the entrance points directly towards the nearby second henge of King Arthur's Round Table (originally there were three henges - Little Round Table is now essentially destroyed, sadly). A truly awe-inspiring location for those who are interested in such things.

Mayburgh Henge consists of a single circular bank broken by a single entrance and It contains a single monolith. Near by attractions are King Arthur's Round Table and Millennium Stone.
