although the hotel is a wee bit dated it was comfortable, the room we had was on the top floor was clean and well kept, the bathroom was spacious and modern, all in all it is a nice hotel. because it is in the town centre it can be a bit noisy at the weekend

Room Tip: rooms at the back will be quieter

We stayed here on the way home to Scotland from England. We found the hotel by accident (something we do on a regular basis) after going round and round the one way system!! We tend not to book hotels as we never know how long we want to drive and also it is nice to stay different hotels. The building looked nice on the outside so in we went! We were offered a double room for £86 or an upgrade to a club room for £96 we decided to go for the club room as it was the last leg of our trip and we didn't intend to eat out as we had eaten with friends at lunchtime! The room was a disappointment it was quite small and more of a standard room but it was only for a few hours at it was 7pm at night when we checked in! The view was over the hotel car park and a brick wall!! We were horrified at the cost of room service - we only wanted a quick sandwich but this would have cost £19.00 as there was a tray charge of £5.00 each! We were too late to have a sandwich downstairs. We are by no means mean but how this is justified I have no idea! On the up side the room was spotless and the bathroom was modern and clean! The breakfast was lovely and served quickly. My final gripe was that if we had gone into the bar for a drink and logged on to the internet our very same room was available for £66.00! This is something I will definitely do in the future! I did email the General Manager but have not received a reply yet! A very nice hotel but not especially good value for money in my opinion!

Room Tip: Not the one we had overlooking the car park!

Very warm reception, and good service. The room was spacious for a single person, however the room was a little dated, you could see it was slightly old fashioned with the fixtures, curtains and doors, and its appeal certainly fell towards older couples. The tea tray was great with biscuits and the toiletries where a nice touch. The room was relatively quiet but was away from the main road.
The bed was very comfortable and soft along with the linens and cushions. My room was very clean with my only comments where slight staining on the carpet and 2 small rips in the wallpaper both barely noticeable.
Breakfast was sadly disappointing, as the hot breakfast was not a buffet it was very small and many elements too it tasted very cheap or dry, but the atmosphere and regency room where breakfast was served was very pleasant and staff where friendly.

Room Tip: Great for a peaceful stay in the centre of town. Get directions before travelling for the car park i arrived by train but can see where issues for drivers would be.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay with some friends and could not have wished for mor. The deal included tea and scones, brill, breakfast and dinner on 2 nights which was very good.and a picnic lunch which again was great. The dinner selection was great if I had one comment it would be we couldn't eat it all. Staff were attentive and friendly all in all a great break.

Room Tip: we had a large room at the front which may be noisy on some nights perhaps the back is quieter. We didn't have a problem though

Excellent reception. Coffee and scones on arrival. Comfy lounge, nice and welcoming. Parking at rear. Get the post code for the car park as its around the back on a one way system, miss it and you go round again! Restaurant food was great, nicely presented, generous portions, friendly service and above all tasted delicious. Breakfast freshly cooked, no buffet style here, just right to set you up for the day. Excellent for the town shops and of course ,The Lakes.Room was good, quiet and relaxing. Nice clean towels and robes and warm with it.The staff were most friendly and went out of their way to accommodate any request. I would definitely stay again. Refurb due in november to some parts but will be done in stages. Special deals until then. Check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Don,t know about others but we had room 33 at the side I think it was. View of the church. Quiet other than for the church bells ringing, didn,t bother us though.
