“Well filled plates....”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Called here on Wed 9th January 2013 for a light lunch. Last visited 20 years ago. Other than a modicum of updating, pleased to say the food has remained of a high quality. Service likewise. Enjoyed a Cumberland sausage in Ciabatta with a red onion relish and including a small serving of fries and side salad. Quantity maximus! A mile and a half north of Penrith on the old A6 road. Will not leave it so long before the next visit. As a matter of interest anyone staying overnight at Southwaite services (M6) Travelodge have a direct link (just 4 - 5 miles north of Stoneybeck) onto A6 from the motel car park. Don't even think of services whilst there are gems like this to be found.

“Beats the M6 Services any day”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

The Stoneybeck is less than a mile from junction 41 off the M6, just north of Penrith. We've jumped off here when travelling up and down to Scotland on a number of occasions. The recent major refurbishment makes it pretty unrecognisable as an "inn" any more and it is far more geared to functions and events now. Some of the atmosphere has gone but the food and prices are still good. The staff are undoubtedly attentive, service was slick and children were welcomed. Prices are reasonable and dishes well presented. Our lunch was more of a snack so can't comment on the more extensive a la carte offerings but would undoubtedly visit again.

“Everything”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

i think the Stoneybeck inn at penrith is a wonderful place, i have just been this evening for my first time, and would happily say i would go again, we all enjoyed our food thoroughly, the inn is very nicely presented, with a nice presentable bar and is just a little more upmarket than your average pub or restaurant. The food food by far the best i've ever had, A 28 day hung rump steak with homemade onion rings, chips, mushrooms, grilled tomato and balsamic sauce. then a lemon tart with ice cream and an espresso. Even the toilets make you feel privileged. the staff are so welcoming and tend to your every need. this inn maybe a little more expensive than your average place to eat but for me it was worth every penny and i would be quite happy to pay more, in fact i expected the bill to be more than it was..

“Great Food, Very Accommodating Staff”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Used to go to this establishment prior to the refurbishment which has been completed to a very high standard. On this occasion a table was booked in the upstairs of the restaurant for a family gathering. We were warmly welcomed and promptly served drinks as family members arrived in stages. The majority of the group opted for the Sunday carvery. The gammon was particularly tender and veg were nicely done, in particular the roasted parsnips. Desserts were lovely too. The staff were incredibly accommodating and allowed us to linger for a long time after we had finished eating. We did not feel pressurised to leave which made it relaxing. Toilets and car-parking facilities were great. Would highly recommend.
