“Not the cheapest & not the best”

Syayed here for one night. Whilst the public areas are spick & span the bedroom was worn and a bit tatty. Certainly not good value for money at £75. Fairly central within walking distance of the town centre and the breakfast was good

I think you stayed in room three as a double. This is a large family room with new furniture and well maintained decoration. There is a new carpet being fitted in march and we accept that the current carpet is worn but please be assured that it is as clean as we can get it. You paid £72.00 including breakfast. If you feel that there is something that is tatty we would appreciate an email to let us know as we aim to maintain high standards through out the B & B, however this can only be done if people let us know any problems that they found and give us constructive feedback.
Many thanks Ian and Samantha

I have stayed here a few times for business purposes and always found it a great place. The owners are young and friendly, and there are some newly decorated rooms which are finished to a high standard ( not the usual floral wallpaper and threadbare carpet) and are quiet and comfortable. Its about 5-8 minutes walk into town and theres off street parking if you need it.Overall, definitely recommended....

Due to taking a new job In Penrith I was lucky enough to spend about 3 or 4 nights a week at Abbey House for just over a year and feel well qualified to give an informed review. Sam and Ian are perfect hosts, always calm and efficient when most other people running a busy guest house and a young family would be quite stressed. Breakfasts are always perfect and can usually be highly entertaining listening to various stories from people 'enjoying' the Coast to Coast cycle route. All of the rooms have good equipment and the whole place is kept spotless. I always recommend Abbey House to people coming to stay in the area. Excellent value for money.

Located right in the town can walk anywhere fo a meal. The inn was very clean nice hosts good beds, car spaces at the back of the property. Breakfast lovely in a nice room the front of the building. Nice bathrooms, we had a front of the house and was a bit noisy with people leaving to pub on a Friday night but did not disturb us for long would recommend the property for a stay

We booked throughlate rooms at last minute, for one night as we were visiting centre parc spa...... For twighlight visit
We paid 68 for double room including breaskfast.... We stayed in room 5, which included a large doible bed (2 singles pushed together), slightly soft for my liking, but nice soft clean bedding.
There was also an extra single bed in the room... We had separate on suit with bath and shower above and hand basin and toliet... Slightly tight small but clean, nice white fluffy towels.in the room there was a small wall mounted tv.tea and coffee making facilities with galaxy hot chocolate.our bedroom was on the ground floor and we could hear the owners dog and children playing in the back.this wasnt a problem.the owners kindly allowed us to check in early at 10.30am.the b and b was on a main road but heard no traffic noise.breakfast is served between 8am and 9am in the morning which you pre order the night before.

The breakfast was a mixture of branded cereals.very nice yoghurts.great tasting.there was a selection of tinned fruit followed by toast and fresh ground coffee or tea.the cooked breakfast consisted of sausage, bacon, eggs, beans and mushroom.it was well cooked.no conplaints.

The family who run the b and b ate friendly.very chatty.they have two small inquisitive children.check out was 10am in the morning.parking is on street
which requires a disk.for the price and location we would definately return.

We stayed here for the 1st night of the C2C 3 day challenge. I wouldn't say it was a 4 star as stated as the room was a bit cramped (not much room to get in and out of bed) and the towel rail kept falling off. The toilet would flush sometimes but then others it wouldn't. The plus points are though the owners are lovely and the breakfast was excellent. Also the location for town was good and not too noisy seeing it is on a main road.
Very good bike storage too.

Room Tip: Good C2C stop
