We went for Sunday lunch recently not quite knowing what to expect. We received good service and a very good quality 3 course meal. The panoramic views are beautiful and the hotel is located in a very peaceful place in the valley.
If you like good food this is a must. Highly recommended, can't wait to return.

This was our second visit to this wonderful restaurant and we were not disappointed.

The views out of the window are unparalleled, the staff were attentive but friendly, the food was truly excellent with a good selection of fine wine to choose from.

The food itself was worthy of being served in any fine restaurant and we are surprised this place doesn't have at least one Michelin star :-)

We will be visiting again!

Had afternoon tea at the Borrowdale Gates which was part of our day trip to the lake district. Everyone who served us was interested polite and very courteous. The hotel which we have stayed in several times, though in the past, has been given a good make over which makes it absolutely stunning.
The food consisted of finger sandwiches followed by warm scones with butter cream and jam then on to cakes and a small cream dessert, served with a pot of tea.
All of the food was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed it all as well as the stunning views.
Many thanks

I had not been to the Borrowdale gates hotel for Sunday lunch for almost a year ,so I was glad to discover it was still as good as I remembered. .After we had a pre luncheon drinks we were led into the dinning room by our charming waitress .My friend and I Had coincidently ordered the same items from the menu ,starting with a salmon and cod fishcake which was lovely and crisp on the outside and soft and creamy inside .This was followed by roast leg of local lamb with a delicious rosemary flavoured jus served with a nice variety of piping hot veg. We sipped on our wine as we enjoyed the view of the valley and fells and the birds feeding just outside the window. I had the cheese plate with a good variety of local and imported cheeses and my friend had a delicious raspberry panna cotta. we retired to the lounge and enjoyed our coffee . A thoroughly enjoyable lunch at a very reasonable price . My only slight criticism, and I am being a bit picky, is that the service staff could be a little more friendly, and coffee served in a caffetiere instead of having to helping ones selve . (we actually requested a cafetiere and received it with no fuss) apparently after talking to a member of staff the management are resolving that particular slip up

The view from the hotel grounds was beautiful and the walks over and around the fells and lake were spectacular.
