We stumbled across Clarence House in January, as the usual place we stay at, The Edwardene, was closed up, as the owners were on holiday. I'm always apprehensive staying somewhere new, just in case I don't like it, but we were utterly charmed by Richard & Karen from the moment we arrived. Such a genuine, down to earth & helpful couple. You can tell by the decor that they've spent a lot of time & effort doing up the place. It was clean, warm & cosy. I have a few food intolerances which they accomodated at breakfast without a qualm. The B&B is situated on Eskin Street, which is only a few minutes walk into the centre of town. It's a quiet street. I have stayed in places in the past where the rumble of traffic is intolerable, but here it was peaceful. The rooms are serviced well and you even get small bottles of water in your room, with your tea & biscuits - a nice touch.
