My wife and I stayed here for the second time in three years and once again we were delighted with the whole experience. The owners put what can only be described as real passion into their hospitality and it shows. We were greeted on arrival with the offer of tea, unusual for many B&Bs, and chatted with Dawn, the lady Manager, before settling into our room. The compact rooms with ensuites have all the usual facilities and are augmented by a large first floor Residents' lounge (see photo for the excellent view over to the fells from there) which contains not only a superb library but also an interesting display of old tabletting equipment. This apparently comes from husband Paul's previous career experence. Walking distance into town is short, via a pedestrian tunnel leading to the main shopping and restaurant area. Maps and information for Keswick attractions, restaurants, walking, cycling, running, even dog walking, are all available at the B&B though; the breakfast menus have suggested routes and things to do on the back. As if that isn't enough, the owners are a fount of knowledge and enthusiasm about the lot!
We highly recommend West View. Its position, looking over Hope Park towards Derwentwater, right on the edge of town and yet less than five minutes from the centre, sets it in an ideal position for exploring this part of the Lakes.More
