Although the surrounding countryside was picturesque and there were many walks around the lake we felt that the boat trip available was not the best value as even though you could get on and off as many times as you liked as long as you did not return to Keswick the lake is relatively small. We chose to take the steamer on Ullswater which although slightly dearer is over 2 hours long for a return journey and the surrounding countryside is overall much more scenic, of course depending on the weather. Again there are 2 drop off points which allow walkers to explore the area and then re-join another boat.
