Beautiful lake, if you do get the chance to make use of the launch boats. The lake has a lovely little walk around it and there is a car park which is cheap also.

Stayed at this hotel many times over the years.Recent facelift was much needed but effective.Wonderful grounds and afternoon tea the best value I have seen in a long time. The gentleman who served us could not have been more helpful.Well worth trying and sitting outside if the weather ever allows!

Could sit for hours at the
Lakeside. A lovely place to visit for a brisk walk, picnic and pebble skimming!!

Our preference is for walking around the lake - distance decided by using the Launch to embark at a number of stops around the Lake. It offers leisure, fun, exercise and when all the tourists depart, tranquility.
This with Keswick is the reason we have been visiting for over 40 years ... A special place.

We are lucky enough to live a short walk from Derwentwater, but can honestly say we are not biased about recommending it as a beautiful, relaxing place to sit and watch the clouds scurrying over the mountains, or the sun lighting the lake. Pick your time when the crowds have gone, and watch the sunset in what is surely one of England's most stunning places.
