Great walk for Keswick and if it rains you can escape in the launch. What more do you want. Love this walk and good for all ages long walk but very rewarding.

We had visited this lake just last week, we took a 50min cruise which was wonderful, the lake is so scenic and beautiful mountains and landscape all over in all 4 directions.

http://www.keswick-launch.co.uk/ is the cruise website.
The Cruise experience was also lovely, very nice one, it is about £9.70 for each adult, and you can also buy single tickets and you can even hop on and off once.
there ample of parking space and a beautiful lawn to enjoy the lake, mountains and the scenery,
we had a nice picnic there as well on the beautiful green grass.

simply amazing lake and very very pretty.

This lake and it's surrounding scenery are absolutely stunning! Whatever the weather.
The regular boat trip is like a water taxi ride with the best views in the world. On my last trip I got off at Lodore and "walked" up past the falls behind the hotel, along to Watendlath for a magnificent pot of tea (only £2!) which gave me two large mugs of refreshment. After a short rest, walked back along the single track road to Ashness Bridge, then to the lake side back to Lodore for the cruise home. Hard work in the heat and sunshine, but worth the initial effort for the subsequent views.
There is a fee for the boat, the refreshments, but the only cost for the visual splendour is your own effort; well worth it in my view!

I took a walk around the whole of Derwent Water on a sunny day in September 2013. The walk itself took about 3-4 hours. It was absolutely stunning! Part of the walk is through a grassy stretch to the south, and at the north part of the walk goes through the town for a while. But the rest can be followed almost directly at the shoreline. All in all it is an easy walk if you are OK with the distance and a little bit of scrabbling over rocks. It is well worth it!
