Easy 10 mile circular walk but also several places where you could catch the ferry back to Keswick if a shorter walk is your thing.

We have been visiting Keswick with family and friends every October half term since 1979
Our family has grown from 6 to 21 and we now hae several apartments to stay.

We love walking and as we have got older, now 83 and 90 there is plenty for all ages to do.

We love getting away from the hustle and bustle of the Midlands to the peace and tranquility of the Lakes. Now our grand children enjoy it as much as our children

Firstly let's start by saying Derwentwater is an amazing place with stunning views and beautiful countryside surrounding it. The whole Lake District area is wonderful!

As for the lone 1 star Review, guess what? Your in the LAKE district so of course there are going to be lakes!!! There are some words I could use to describe you but as I'm mature I won't bother, let's just say your the kind of commentator Tripadvisor doesn't need!!!

Everywhere you stop at this enchanting lake you have stunning views, use the ferry to get around the lake and stop off at Nichol End for fantastic food, cakes and refreshments at Chandlers Cafe. Use the row boats and hire equipment available at 4 places around the lake, stop off on St Herberts Isle for a pick nick.

Derwent water is a beautiful expanse of water. I have travelled by launch, powered a motor boat and rowed a boat on this lake. All of my experiences have been enjoyable and memorable.
I have also swam in this lake on many occasions. It is refreshing and revitalising.
I have walked around the lake as it has a good path to enable you to do this. The side under catbells is a very enjoyable walk where there are many places to stop and enjoy the view or have a picnic.
