“Derwentwater”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2013

A walk around Derwenrwater is an enjoyable experience in all seasons. Starting from Keswick you walk through Hope Park, past the Theatre by the Lake and the launch quay and on along one side of the lake. At the head of the lake you can stop for morning tea or coffee at one of two lovely hotels with lake view. Then across the lake on duckboards and back to Keswick via the other side of the lake, through the beautiful Brandelhow Wood, where you may spot a rare red squirrel if you are lucky. The round trip is about 9 miles, but if that proves too exacting you can always return on the launch from one of its many pick-up points during the summer season.

“beautiful.”

This truly is a beautiful place to visit , we went in October and the colours of the trees were truly amazing.
A trip on the launch is a must and for going over to catbells it was great.there are lots of different wildfowl to see and nearly always somebody doing some form of watersport, a nice thing is you can walk the whole water in a day.

“SUPER DERWENTWATER”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

What a lovely wall you can take around Derwentwater.
If you want to start with a nice amble go via Hope Park which is good to view as well, and then stroll along the lake to Friars Crag. Even if the weather is stormy there are some fantastic views to be seen, as we were lucky enough to have the sun peep out from dark clouds creating fantastic visual display of light and dark colours and shades. From Friars Crag then stroll around to the beach side and beyond to soak up the atmosphere and sights.

The National Trust operate a small shop here and if you have children you can buy bags of duck food for 50p or hire a boat.

“Beautiful boat trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

Purchase a discounted ticket at the T&I in Keswick and take this lovely hop on hop off boat trip around Derwentwater. Hike up to Ashness gate, stop and have a wonderful meal at Lodore Falls Hotel and many other opportunities.
