“Beautiful”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Theatre by the lake for a unusual evening out, lovely cafes, boat hire and trips onto the lake in boats, lovely walks round the lake and breathtaking and stunning views. Perfect place to visit, relax and unwind with lots of other things to do and see close by and around it.

“Walk round Derwentwater”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Went to the information Bureau in Keswick and purchased a map with instructions and local information. The walk was about 8 miles start and finish at the bureau. Took us about or 5 hours or so with a stop at the waters edge for a pic nic. Food and drink is a must as there are no real facilities. Toilets were at the car park in Kettlewell which were mentioned in the information leaflet, and came in handy!
What a lovely walk. Fairly flat. A bit shingly in places. Lots of views around the lake. Some woodland walking as well. Coming back towards Keswick at the end, the path is a little away from the lake, across a couple of fields. Look out for the sheep...we saw them being herded into a pen...quite a joy to see. And of course, when you return to the town centre, there are many excellent pubs just waiting to serve you with that well deserved pint!!

“Leisurely Lake walk”

Loved the scenery on our walk around the whole lake. Lots of places and activities on the lake. Lots of points to sit down and drink in the view.

“Idyllic picture postcard setting”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I have lived in Keswick all of my life and still am amazed by the beauty of Derwentwater. We spent an idyllic afternoon on Saturday at Calf Close Bay with our grandsons and one of their little friends. They ran around to their hearts content, paddling, playing ball and then had a picnic. Jack aged 5 commented “isn’t it lovely and peaceful nanny” and he was right.

We are so fortunate having this beautiful area right on our doorsteps and it’s free! The boys can’t wait to return.
