My favourite Lake - big enough to be impressive, but small enough to walk around in half a day... and the walk is well worth it.
If you don't go all round you MUST walk out on Friar's Crag, a dolomite sill standing proud of the lake... one of the founding areas of the English National Trust and site of classic views down to Scawfell and across to Cat Bells.
Magical as the sun goes down....
East access from Keswick Lake Side Car Park (not cheap though) and a 5 minute walk into Keswick itself
