Great place to take a walk. Low level so a pleasant if long stroll. Remember it is over 9 miles all way round. However, you can take the launch if you get tired.

Firstly the title given on here is in correct. It is not Lake Derwent it is Derwentwater, joined together & without the word "lake". There is only one body of water in the Lake District with the word "lake" in it's title and that is Bassenthwaite Lake 5 miles west of Derwentwater. All the others are ....water, .....mere but not lake eg ButterMERE , WastWATER etc. Collectively they are referred to as lakes. Having got that correction out of the way Derwentwater is the most beautiful of all the lakes in the opinion of many & it's commercialisation is quaint rater than detrimental. Try going on one of the launches for some of the most beautiful views you will ever see. You will remember this trip for the rest of your life !!
