“Our place to unwind and destress.”
Reviewed November 24, 2011

We have stayed at Uzzicar farm about half a dozen times now and would not want to stay anywhere else. The farm is in an idyllic spot, far enough out of the town of Keswick to be 'in the countryside', but close enough for all that Keswick has to offer. The whole point of coming to Uzzicar is the peace and quiet and tranquillity on offer. We always unwind here. Helen, David and the girls look after us very well indeed and after one of Helen's huge 'Full English', you are in the right place to walk it off. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are well furnished, everything you could think of is provided, from hair driers to shoe shine kits. The beds are extremely comfy; in fact I've never slept as well as when at Uzzicar. We cannot recommend this place highly enough, for value for money, comfort and generally being well looked after. The only disappointment for us is that Helen is fully booked for our next weekend away, but we will be back another time, most definitely. As for deigo 762, where exactly was he staying, because his review was nothing like the Uzzicar farm we know and love!!

My family and I have stayed at Uzzicar Farm 3 times now. The setting is idyllic, in a tranquil valley away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to town for convenience. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, the amenities are perfect, and the traditional breakfast is a treat, a perfect set up for a day of hill walking. The scenery is beautiful, and there are many walks accessible straight out of the front door. With the resident farm animals it is almost like being part of a Beatrix Potter story. Highly recommended.

This is a traditional family-run B&B in a wonderful peaceful setting at the foot of the fells. The walks are literally a stone's throw a way and the host is welcoming and helpful. We stayed in the ensuite double room and found it spacious and comfortable with all mod cons. Our host Helen is from the local area and can advise on where to eat and visit as well as walks. Her three children were great fun with our kids but equally we were afforded as much privacy as we needed. We had a lovely hearty breakfast to set us up for the day with high-quality produce. The accommodation is particularly family friendly and items of use can be provided for babies ie travel cot etc, which really handy if you are travelling light.

I definitely do NOT agree with deigo762. This B&B is lovely. Helen couldn't have been more helpful and the bed was exceptionally comfortable, slept like babies!!. The room was very clean and well equipped. My wife and I couldn't have asked for better accommodation or hosts. We had a huge breakfast with plenty of choice complete with fresh eggs from the free ranging hens. Idyllic situation in the Newlands Valley. Would highly recommend to anyone.

My wife and myself were in Great Britain for 3 weeks in July and August 2011. We stayed in 15 different B&B's in this period and without a doubt this was the worst. Where to start, the day we arrived we were met by their 11 or 12 year old daughter who ran us through the amenities, not seeing Helen the owner until the next day when she served us breakfast with a grumpy hello, dropped the food and left. "Well good morning to you too", the bed, you could feel every spring in it and the next day both of us suffered with back pain (we didn't in any other bed). Bear in mind this place is out in the valley so eating is a good walk, about 1 mile, 20 minutes or so to a small pub they told us was good so after getting there was closed for a month (should have known that) so as it was getting dark and didn't feel like driving into Keswick in the dark we went without dinner. I know we had the choice to drive but it is a little hard to find in the day time let alone at night. The shower was good with lots of hot water and after hiking was good. All in all not a good experience so can't give a favorable review and would not recommend.

The farm has cattle and sheep, chickens and ducks. The room was great – large and comfortable and quiet. From the farm you can take trails up the into the hills for a view that stretches for miles.

Our four month old baby was welcomed with open arms from all the family. Warm welcome in a traditional, family friendly farm house. We would highly recommend this B&B based on the hosts hospitality and the wonderful location.
