“A saving grace!”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

When my accommodation in Keswick suddenly became unavailable, I rang around many B&B's to find a free room and was beginning to despair-when Jo's cheery voice informed me that they had one room vacant for two nights. I regard myself as very fortunate to have discovered Tarn Hows, as the welcome was very warm, the spacious room spotlessly clean, very light and newly decorated. My bed was blissfully comfortable and I slept better than I had done in ages! The en suite shower was powerful and suitably refreshing. Eskin Street's immediate area is very quiet and only a few minutes walk from the town's facilities. Do try to see a play at the beautiful Theatre by the Lake during your stay, and take a boat trip around Derwentwater, stopping off for afternoon tea at Lodore Falls Hotel.

Room Tip: My room at the front had a lovely bright, raised window area for sitting and reading. There was noi...

The Guest House was clean and beautifully decorated, Andy the owner was charming and full of good ideas for walking. Breakfast was brilliant, just what we needed for a long day out!! The position of the Guest house was great for our 3 night stay, close to the village, lake, buses, nice restaurants and local bars.

I stayed here for three nights and I cannot fault the experience. The owners Andy and Jo were warm and friendly - hugely helpful too. The rooms were beautifully decorated and spotless. Breakfast was delicious and the service perfect. I will definitely be back. It is perfectly located for strolling in to town. The area is very quiet, no traffic noise. I slept really well. This beautiful guest house is a fantastic find. Thank you to Andy and Jo for making my stay so wonderful.

We stayed here during Easter 2012 and it was very enjoyable stay. We had double bedroom with shower on top floor (3floors). Room was beautiful with very comfortable bed, small flat TV, coffee making facilities, hair dryer and fan heater.Rooms are cleaned daily. Breakfast was served only certain time, i think, till 9.30. It was delicious and we got extras when we asked. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The guest house has great location about 5-10 mins walking to town centre.

Our first stay at Tarn Hows for two nights on the way south after a holiday in Scotland. We found the room very clean, and the bed comfortable. The en suite shower room built into the original room was well appointed but understandably very tight (the hand basin almost impossible to use with the sliding door shut). The owners were very helpful in advising about the town and the surrounding area. Breakfast was adequate, if somewhat quirky - toast seemed to appear at random, the grapefruit was notable by its absence, on both mornings the bacon was undercooked, and the owner seemed to be in the process of turning into Basil Fawlty.
