“Castlehead view point”

Its a lovely view point. You have to go through a Jungle, which gives a nice expedition kinda feeling. We were the only ones when we reached there and the view was simply beautiful.

“Lovely views of Keswick and Derwentwater”
Reviewed July 29, 2014

Walking in these woods you have little idea of what awaits you when you break through the tree line at the top of the hill: sweeping views over Derwentwater to the fells behind. Well worth the uphill climb through the woods!

“Lovely”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

Castlehead is lovely for a short walk with great views of Derwentwater, Keswick, Borrowdale and Bassanthwaite. It is steep getting to the viewpoint, not suitable for wheelchairs.

“Good walking”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

We enjoyed hearing the bird song and spotting the many different birds as we walked through the different terrain in the woods. It was also peaceful.

“Easy starter”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

Suitable for beginners, this walk is very close to Keswick itself and is accessed by local roads. The walk begins at the edge of the woods. Appropriate footwear is recommended since, on the day we visited there had been heavy rain and it was rather muddy underfoot. The wood itself is traditional English woodland with oak, beech' hawthorn, birch etc. and very pleasant. The path to the top of Castlehead does get a bit steep, but if you take your time you can do it. Having said that, the final twenty or so feet does require scrambling over rocks, so go carefully but, once you attain the summit, the view of Derwentwater is breathtaking. Put this one on your to-do list
