We have stayed here before and we were not disappointed this time. The room was lovely and although we were warned of noise from the nightclub close by heard very little and this was a Friday night! Great staff especially in restaurant where the lady who seemed to be in charge was excellent both in her manner and how quickly she saw to everything! This was both for breakfast and evening meal. We visit Keswick regularly and we will definitely stay again!

Room Tip: We have stayed in both Room 3 and Room 14 both were lovely. Would probably choose Room 3 but maybe not on a Friday night as you can be woken early with market setting up.

Stayed at the Kings arms for 4 nights from the 16th September 2013, the hotel was very clean, staff very polite and friendly, lovely bar with a good choice of drink's, I noted that the toilets at the bar are very clean and fresh, the room we had was very good (room 10) it was clean and comfortable, the breakfast choice was good and the food was lovely, the location was excellent, right in the middle of the square, there was a little bit noise at night (because you are in the town centre) but not loud enough to disturb our sleep, overall we had a very pleasant stay.

We came here on a Friday evening during a short stay in Keswick. The town was busy, so we were glad to find somewhere with a free table.

The service in the restuarant area was good and our meals didn't take too long to arrive. We weren't very impressed with the food however. The salad served with the scampi and chips was dry and unappealing, whilst the pork belly came with veru stodgy, bland mashed potato. We skipped dessert and went and found a local Italian restaurant instead where we enjoyed lovely icecream.

Overall, we were hungry and the food here served its purpose. Would we go back? No.

Dear Hilary,

Thank you for your review of our hotel, I’m glad to hear that we managed to accommodate your dining party when the town was so busy that evening. I’m also pleased to hear that you found the restaurant and service to be up to standard, though surprised to read your comments about the food. All of the meals on our menu are served fresh and if there were problems with your food we would have been happy to rectify these at the time. We are just about to launch a new menu with lots of seasonal flavours to add richness and depth to all our dishes – we’re really excited about it and think our customers will love it too.

We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future, possibly to try one of our desserts, which we can assure you are very tasty!

Kind regards

Dani

All comments have been raise with the Manger before publishing !!

The good points:
-Room Clean
-Staff Very Friendly

The bad points:
Room was very tired / dated looked nothing like the pictures in the advertisement:
Noise - unbelievable that this not mentioned at all in the advert !! ( see note below) was kept awake until 1.00 am and then was woken up at 5.00 am as they setup the street market right outside our window ! we thought it was strange that ear plugs are supplied in the room ! maybe someone else had raised the noise issue before ???

Why do I say the noise the noise was not mentioned in the advert, well be aware the payment is deducted from your account before you arrive. this is none refundable. So this is why I believe they should give a warning of the noise as there is zero chance of any refund should you wish to change hotels you have been warned !! would not recommend hotel at all ..

Dear Steve,

I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at the Kings Arms, although I'm glad you found the staff friendly. In response to the points you make -

Town Centre Location - this is something which is clearly stated throughout our website. As you would expect in any town, there can often be a lively night life on Friday and Saturday nights, and as it is out of our control to stop all noise in the town we do our best to try and soften the noise with triple glazed windows and ear plugs.

Pre-Paid Discounted Offer - You bought into a great deal to stay at the Kings Arms. The pre-paid, non-refundable offer meant we were able to give you a great price to stay with us.

Room decor - our website gives a suggestion of what the bedrooms in our hotel look like. Indeed the room you stayed in was tired, but comfortable and clean never the less. I am pleased to say it will be redecorated in November 2013.

Kind regards,

Dani

Came in a few times during our stay in Keswick. The atmosphere and service in the bar was good, and the place was full of character. Decided to eat in the restaurant one afternoon, which wasn't the experience it should've been.

The service was incredibly slow. It was over 20 minutes before our order was taken, and then nearly 40 minutes for toasted sandwiches to arrive. The place was only about half full too. A table that were seated after us were not only dealt with first but they had finished their food before ours even arrived. A shame.

Thank you for your review of our bar, we’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your visits here throughout your stay.

I’m sorry to hear, however, that you did not have a similar experience in the restaurant. During the busy summer season this can put extra strain on our staff and so this might explain why it took a little while for your food to arrive.

Kind regards,

Dani
