We've just got back from The Paddock B&B in Keswick. Would recommend to anyone. Lovely atmosphere and the owners Val and Alan were very attentive during our stay. Our room was extremely clean, décor a little dated but again in good repair. Breakfast was beautifully prepared and presented, it set us up for our day no problem.
Well Done The Paddock!

Room Tip: Room 6 was good for us!

We only had the one night in Keswick and were very fortunate to get this guesthouse. Everything is pretty much immaculate with the room and it was extremely spacious (room 6)

We found the walk into Keswick centre really was only 5 minutes so the location is perfect.

We decided to book this because of the excellent feedback but unfortunately that is not what we found. On arrival we got there early seen the notice on the door can not check in till three, so rang door bell spoke to a gentleman who said it was alright to leave our car while we go into Keswick. About 2pm we decide to go back to the guest house has it was raining and thought we may be able get in earlier. The door was locked so we sat in the car till about 2.30 then rang the number on the door. When I mentioned we were outside the answer was did we have a booking when I said yes we were told that we could leave our car and go into Keswick when I mentioned that we had already done that the answer was I am shopping so some one will be their at 3 to open up. At 3.15 the guy we spoke with earlier arrived to open up. We then had to fill in a form then one for breakfast. We were shown to our room which was a twin which we new but it reminded me of the room I use to stay in my nans when I was young. The room was small and one of the panes was broken. The bathroom was small but modern but there was nowhere to put your toiletries and my husband kept banging his head when bending to get his shower gel and it was cold in the bathroom as well. Breakfast was between 8.15 to 8.45. But was nothing to write home about. We have stayed in a lot of four/five star hotels/b&b, but no way is this a four star and I have never been to a b&b that has its doors locked. We were so disappointed, we could not wait to leave. And I really don't know we're the hospitality was either.

Stayed for a long break.

Good location opposite Fitz park and a short stroll into the centre of Keswick.

Guaranteed car parking either outside the bed and breakfast, or in a designated space in the Conservative Club car park - a short walk away.

Friendly,chatty owners Val and Alan.

On arrival various notices are displayed from removing muddy boots, preferred methods of payment e.g. cash or cheque and a notice that due to previous guests accident with red wine, it is not to be drunk in any room.

Wine glasses and corkscrew are available in all rooms however.

Breakfast is pre-ordered the day before and that along with car registration and method of payment being used, is required on forms to be completed upon arrival.

Breakfast choices of a full English (note each item required)
Vegetarian option with vegetarian sausage.
Scrambled eggs and salmon
Continental

Cereals/tinned fruit/tea and coffee and toast also provided.
Porridge also on offer.

Would like to see more lighter cooked breakfast options (e.g. poached egg on toast) at this and other b& b's.

Tea making facilities in room.
Pack of biscuits provided, milk is in carton form.
Bottles of water also available in room.
Cup and saucer for tea.....personally prefer a mug.

Hairdryer in drawer for use.

In the corridor outside bedroom 3 is a small mini fridge for Guests use.

Discounted tickets for the Steamer and Theatre by the Lake are available from Val.
They also offer advice on walks/places to visit and evening dining in Keswick.

Book direct for best prices and current offers

If a special occasion let them know for a small gift of chocolates - nice touch.

Owners also have a self-catering apartment - Ashness apartment.
This is located above a bookstore in the centre of Keswick.

Not yet tried the apartment so can not comment.

Room Tip: Some rooms more updated and some rooms are quite small. No.1 room has more updated en-suite but only one side of the bed to place anything. Room 3 small bedroom. large en-suite . little dated bathroom - no power shower here. Taps a little stiff to turn ...and carpet in a bathroom! Rooms are clean

We have just returned from another lovely stay at THe Paddock guest house and again it was every thing we look for in a Lakeland guest house. It is close to everything. Less than 5 mins walk to the center of Keswick and 10 mins to Derwent water so it is handy for everything Keswick has to offer. We were late arriving and didn't get there until 7pm but Val the owner had left a note for me and she was there to welcome us in a minute and as usual it was a lovely warm welcome. We were given room number 6 the first room at the top of the stairs. It had a double bed, TV, dressing table, ample storage for everything and a lovely on suite shower room
Breakfast was great. A selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurts and a nice full English. No grease in sight, tasty and filling with toast and a pot of tea and cafetiere of coffee.
It was our anniversary whilst there and we were delighted to find a small box of chocolates on the bed when we got back to the room. Very much appreciated Thanks Val!
We have stayed before and we will stay there again soon hopefully.
