The Lake District is a beautiful place to visit with lots to do and see … but food wise I personally find it all a bit same-y. I just couldn't muster enthusiasm for another quaint pub/cafe/bistro. That is until my other half took me to a small cafe that was a petrol station in a previous life just on the outskirts of Keswick. Wow. Real food. Gorgeous flavours. Friendly, welcoming staff. It ticked all my boxes. Whether its a full English, a stack of American buttermilk pancakes or just a coffee you're after the small but perfectly formed Filling Station is the place for you. Admittedly, I'm a lover of food, any kind, but I have high quality standards and the food here meets every one. Besides the food the American-looking-diner cafe has a lovely ambience. With seating both inside and out it is frequented by a range of travellers and locals and unlike a lot of places ALL are welcome. If you are in the Lakes look this delicious cafe up - you won't regret it.
