“A delicious refuge in a sea of average”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

The Lake District is a beautiful place to visit with lots to do and see … but food wise I personally find it all a bit same-y. I just couldn't muster enthusiasm for another quaint pub/cafe/bistro. That is until my other half took me to a small cafe that was a petrol station in a previous life just on the outskirts of Keswick. Wow. Real food. Gorgeous flavours. Friendly, welcoming staff. It ticked all my boxes. Whether its a full English, a stack of American buttermilk pancakes or just a coffee you're after the small but perfectly formed Filling Station is the place for you. Admittedly, I'm a lover of food, any kind, but I have high quality standards and the food here meets every one. Besides the food the American-looking-diner cafe has a lovely ambience. With seating both inside and out it is frequented by a range of travellers and locals and unlike a lot of places ALL are welcome. If you are in the Lakes look this delicious cafe up - you won't regret it.

“Brilliant value......”
Reviewed May 29, 2014 via mobile

We called in after reading reviews on T.A and we were not disappointed....

I can only say that those people who have left negative feedback must have gone on an 'off day' as the food was fantastic and piping hot and the staff couldn't have done more for us...

Sure the seating is limited, but that's life!!

All in all definitely recommended for a good quality, well priced meal....

"We will be back!!!"

“Great bacon and pancake stack”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

Visited for the second time and not disappointed. Good atmosphere, great food, fast service. If you want somewhere a little bit different, with a bit of an American Diner style, this is the place. It's quite small but worth waiting for a table if you arrive at a busy time.

“Another Targa”
Reviewed May 27, 2014 via mobile

Visited by way of our driving day out, my first time and won't be my last, I have probably with food due to illness and so can't eat breads etc but they were happy to do a bacon and egg roll without the roll... I. each. bacon and eggs on a plate.. No trouble at all...
I don't normally eat this either but it was superb, local products do taste much better. Will be returning in June with my foods most ferocious critic... my wife.. it will no doubt exceed her expectations too...

Keep up the good work....
